apparently US engineers have achieved a net output of energy through fusion. I believe something similar was done in the UK earlier in the year, i'm not sure whether that was a net output or if it was merely a significant jump in productivity from what was capable before, but this is being touted as a new milestone even with the UK achievement in recent news.
