Adding precipitation in AfterEffects etc.

We need to make it snow! (well not literally ) Anyone know of a convincing way to make rain/snow effects in AE or any other effects package?

 

I suppose you could use this tutorial for a start.

 

I live in alaska. not too hard for me! Seriously though, I'm going to bluescreen some snow this winter, and I might even post it for someone if they really needed it...

With filming on "Forcery" now underway (finally, it's happening YAY!! ) we need to superimpose some snow falling when we film the car out on the Blue Ridge Parkway for the title shot, among other scenes.
