Admin Only Icons and VIP Colors

I was searching for a new icon, when I came across one that said Admin Only.

Personally, this doesn't make much sense to me, shouldn't all icons be avaliable to everyone?

You should have been around in 2002 and beforehand, when they were in regular use.

 

They are, their the regular icons with Admin written on them. In case the colors, titles, and unusual popularity wasn't enough of a clue.

 

But why are they admin only now?

Because nobody else should have the privilege to have "ADMIN" stamped on their avatar.

 

Actually, those icons have been long gone.

I think the only ones remaining now are special icons for game winners (VIPs have access to the admin only icons).

I demand equal rights for all users! Where does the administration get off denying us the use of icons that only apply to admins! This is an insult to freedom loving people everywhere!

Because if they were available it would allow the oldbies to scare away the noobs.

 

I remember when me and GriffZ went to change our icons only to find the admin icons available. Our fun was ended by Rox, though.

Yeah, it's probably a Game Winner icon.
The Admin icons were dumped in lieu of titles a few years ago.
It really upset me.

 

Meh, the admin only icons are lame anyways. People make a big deal(well some people do) about equal rights for all users OMGZ!!!1111ELEVENTY-ONE!, but they don't realize that all that stuff that supposedly makes mods so much cooler than regular users(minus the buttons, of course ) really isn't that cool anyways. Or not as cool as it's made out to be by some.

 

What design do they have? Like Emperor Palpatine and it saying admin on it?

 

That's not true, Amos. I still feel cool as hell everytime I put on my Modsquad issued sunglasses.

Cause I feel like raining on your little mod-bashing parade, this was at a time before titles were available and in fact they were all removed within a month of titles appearing. It was also during a time when everyone who had VIP status or up could do whatever they wanted with their colours. Thus it was the only way in which you could differentiate without having to go into a profile.

And "unusual" popularity for all? What JC were you viewing?

Just to reiterate, we did away with admin-only icons years ago and are not bringing them back. These are simply game and contest winner icons to be used by that person for a limited time.

 

Wow that was ages ago, I completely forgot about that.

 

For those wondering what the Admin Icons looked like, scroll down to the bottom of this old thread. Personally, I thought the text made them a bit of an eyesore compared to the "clean" icons. I'm glad the titles came in and made them obsolete.

When we first won FF Trivial Pursuit, I remember Obi Anne being mad at us for using Admin Icons.


Really, most of us don't even have our specially requested Halloween icons as admin only.
