ST Admiral Ackbar's Voice

I know the actor is in his 90's now, but did anyone else think the voice just sounded off? I mean it was really coarse, not projected well, etc..... I mean Christopher Lee was almost as old and was totally full-force as Sauron.

 

Sounded fine to me, like an older Ackbar.

 

30 yrs have past, to me he just sounded older..

 

He just sounded like an old Ackbar to me, sounded fine.

 

A source I saw said Mon Calamari only have a life expectancy of 80. Is that accurate?

 

And rough and irritating?

 

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Carrie Fisher?

Nah, Ackbar's voice sounded great to me.

 

i did notice the difference, but it's 30 years later, after all.

 

And he gets everywhere...

 

The actor aged, so did the character. I think we're done here.

You hadn't had a voice you had in your head for 40 years when Lee did Saruman, so it was his voice at the time that set the tone.

Ackbar's voice tone was set in 1983, and it's been reverberating in your head like that ever since, but the guy simply isn't capable of that exact sound anymore, so it sounds different or "off" compared to what you're used to.

Okay, example.....

William Shatner sounds the SAME as he did on Star Trek..... almost half a century later!

 

He sounded much older to me... which is in keeping with the actors age. Would have been nice to see an older Ackbar thigh, but not sure what an old fish looks like...

 

I did as well...it was a tad off, but not distracting.

 

Hell I thought it was another Mon Cal at first glance, then I thought to myself well it has been 30 years I guess old Ackbar is still kickin...

 

I remember thinking it sounded exactly the same as in ROTJ. *shrugs*

Listen to Shatner in the '60's tv series and listen to him in the movies, his voice has changed slightly over time. but since you got to hear it change every so gradually as he aged, you don't notice it NEAR as much.

Spock's voice changed even more so.

Carry Fisher's voice is NOTHING like it was in the OT.
