    That's quite possible because he couldn't have been thinking straight to challenge Vader's decision.

    Sober or not, anybody would be foolish to challenge Vader on anything.

    All of his actions can point to traitor, but I agree with everyone elses points that he was probably just stupid, and challenged Vader's authority. Maybe a dual example to the other officers on the bridge and to the audience of the cost of failure in Vader's eyes.
