I was gonna say, I've got some Neosporin here if that helps :p.

The Hyve looks impressive. It's definitely reminicient of Castle Greyskull, with a little Snake Mountain thrown in for good measure.

I really need to start collecting Sectaurs. Looks like a great line, and not so massive that it would take forever and a lot of $ to complete.

I have to say, when I sold all those off on eBay, I never imagined how much they would go for...
GIJoe stuff sold for about double what it was new, except for the unopened "Action Force" carded StormShadow, which went for $200.
Made over $10K on my transformers.
Sectaurs were iffy, mainly because shipping was expensive.
    MASK did well.
One that was amazing was the StarComm stuff. Got just over $1000.

On the other hand, I couldn't give away the 2 bravestar figures I had.
And I was nice to my toys--kept the boxes, instructions, and packaging for 90+% of them. And took lots of pictures to make them look good.

Anyone know what the market is like for ReBoot figures? I could always just check eBay, but thought I'd ask first.

I don't know if the Indy hunts have all ground to a stand still or not, but the Cairo thug 2-pack has been out for a while now. Also, TOD wave supposedly hits in the next couple of weeks ... I've started buying extra figures of the ones I already have since they're just taking up space on the pegs now. I figured that way, I can display a few out of their boxes and help through money into the toy line in the hopes that it won't be dead this time next year.

Well, This is pretty much the confirmation that we all knew was coming: The Indiana Jones line is dead after 2008. The small Raiders line previewed at comic con isn't even going to make it out next year. This is extremely disapointing for me and for many of you I'm sure :_|. I had just read that there was even plans for a flying wing next year. Anyways, here is the latest Indiana Jones Q&A from Hasbro at cooltoyreview.com

As part of Hasbro's bi-weekly Star Wars Q&A session over at Rebelscum, we've been allowed to pass on 3 of your burning Indiana Jones questions! So check out the latest scoop we've got for you this session.
Cool Toy Review: Is the German Mechanic figure shown in the second Raiders of the Lost Ark wave scheduled for January going to include any accessories (wrench, removable hat and shirt etc...)?
Also, would it be possible to see a picture of the stands that will be included in this wave as well as Mola Ram without his head dress?

Hasbro: Right now, we are not going to be revealing any more details or information on this wave due to the likelihood that it will not make it out.

Cool Toy Review: What is your internal "doomsday date" to determine the future of the Indiana Jones line at retail? Or, what specific date in the coming months is the "point of no return" for Indy's future? Will there be enough time to "rescue" the line to produce and distribute post-Temple Of Doom/Wave 4 if the Indy line indeed starts to sell at a faster pace?

Hasbro: Right now, it's highly unlikely that the line will continue significantly beyond the holidays this year.

Cool Toy Review: Would you consider continuing the line as online exclusives with a higher per-figure price if it is not feasible to continue the line at stores like Wal-Mart and Target? In order to get figures like Oxley, Mac, Donovan, and Marcus collectors would be willing to pay more.

Hasbro: It would not be possible to continue the line in this manner, since the size of the IJ collector base is not enough to sustain development work and production volumes by itself.

Thanks for the info, DarthGeist. :( Like you said, not a surprise but a real disappointment. I never expected the line to last long since the Indyverse isn't nearly as vast as 'Star Wars' but to die out after only one wave per film is a bit of a shock.

So what do you all think caused the line to fail?

-- Were the initial 2 waves overproduced, causing the pegs to become clogged and interest in the line to die out?

-- Was it the lukewarm response to 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' that zapped enthusiasm?

-- Was it the quality of the line?

-- Are kids just not that into Indy? Would the line have been better off trying to appeal to adult collectors with a larger scale, more detail [and higher price point] approach ala the "Movie masters" line?

And what does this news mean for distribution of the remaining two waves 'TOD' & 'TLC'. Many collector's [my self included] haven't seen any trace of these waves so far. Have stores already made a commitment to these waves or is it possible they could be dumped to Dollar stores. I have to tell you, the first two waves just aren't moving around here and I don't see anything short of a clearance sale making enough room to make way for 'TOD' & 'TLC'; especially with all the new toys competing for space this Christmas.

Ultimately what killed the line was that the retailers, specifically Walmart, over ordered and Hasbro over produced. When the Indy figures first hit they were hard to find. Most store didn't have anythings on their shelf for the launch date. Over the next two weeks the figures hit the shelves and were quickly bought up by collectors and fans. The week the film came out the pegs, at least in my area, were virtually empty. This is the point in time where the line was killed: The stores reordered Wave 1 and 2 completely filling their pegs to the brim. Unfortunately by that point the collectors pretty much already had what they wanted and were now waiting for the Last Crusade Wave in July. However there was no room for Wave 3 and the bulk of the figures started to warm the pegs. When Last Crusade figures did start to hit shelves Hasbro completely screwed up with it's case assortments by including figures from Wave 1 and 2, which were clogging pegs, instead of filling the case with Last Crusade figures only.

The line was killed the minute the stores restocked Wave 1 and 2.

I agree with basically everything Juke and Gobi have said with the addition of one thing. The line relied heavily on kids since IJ collectors, apparently, are not that dedicated of a "collector" fan base (Clarification: I mean there are more kid indy fans than adult collector indy fans. I didn't mean that indy fans aren't dedicated). Kids, also apparently, only wanna play with Indy and not his supporting cast. Those are just my thoughts ...

Yeah, Hasbro has pretty much ruined ML for me. I think since they've taken over I've only bought 3 figures. I am really excited for the Marvel Universe line though.

And DC Universe Classics is probably my favorite line currently out, but the horrible distribution makes it almost impossible to find all the figures I want.

I picked up 'G.I Joe ARAH 25th anny' Flash and Crimson Guard figures today [found Flash @ a grocery store, so if you have had trouble finding certain figures you might want to try there].

    ----

My local Wal-Mart shrank the number of Indy single carded figure pegs in their main section and used the space to throw up more deluxe figures [nothing new]. They also had a big new display of 'Iron Man' figures out to take advantage of the DVD [though I didn't see any new figures, just a fancy display] Maybe they'll do that for the 'KOTCS' DVD too... and throw out some 'TLS' figures while they're at it. And I saw more Movie Master Batman and Jokers, so they're becoming quite easy to find now.

I think with Indy, not only did the first wave clogging ruin it but the 6 or 7 bucks each in a tanking economy as well. Plus Iron Man and Dark Knight came out strong and with merchandise too.

A line I'm pretty excited about is Mattel/DC's "Infinite Heroes" line. You can see pics and info here: http://www.joeacevedo.com/docs/figurezone/dcuinfiniteheroes.htm

What's cool to me is how it reminds me of the old Super Friends days of so many characters coming out. They are on the same scale as Star Wars (3 3/4 inch) and at Target were going for 5 bucks. Unfortunately they don't have accessories- I got Guy Garder and he didn't even come with a lantern. :p

But I like the fact that 3 3/4 seems to be an industry standard. You can have Guy Gardner meet up with Han and Indy to battle Snake Eyes, or something. And they are easier on the wallet than larger scale figures.

Now I'm kicking myself for not getting the 3 3/4 Batman/Joker movie two pack and passing on Black Hand (since he's in Green Lantern "Secret Origins" at the moment).

Speaking of superhero figures in the 3 3/4 inch scale, I just came across new pictures of Hasbro's Marvel Universe: Fury files. You'll probably recognize the look and design of the cardbacks since they look a lot like the 'Star Wars' cards from last year's collection.

This is pretty cool. It reminds me of 1984, when there was Mattel's Marvel Secret Wars and Kenner's DC Super Powers figures in the 3 3/4 scale on the market at the same time. It was comic book/toy nirvana!

    ----

I picked up the "Tiger Force" Flint tonight.

I pretty much just started collecting Star Wars toys again, I just purchased a 12" AotC Count Dooku, looks pretty great. I've got a Vader in that scale from about 10 years ago, along with all the ships and regular figures I collected back then.

Nowadays 12" figures are where it's at, for me. I've got 15 or so Marvel characters, most from their respective movies since those are pretty easy to find, along with Batman Begins, Robin, Batman Beyond and a couple customs I'm working on.

Along with that, I've got every Transformer movie line which actually appeared in the movie, I don't need any of this bonus character stuff, it would just get way too costly.

Also, I've decided I'm going to collect every Mark from the Iron Man films, as they come out. I've got Mark 1 & 2, and a 12" Mark 3 for now.

    Yep.
    It's fun.

Here are some cool hi-res pics from G.I. Joe Wave 7.

    - Sgt. Airborne
    - Cobra Eel
    - Flint (Cobra Soldier Disguise)
    - Pilot Scarlett
    - Specialist Trakker
    - Zartan Swamp Squad

Airborne and the Cobra Eel are straight from the original line, as is Zartan only this time he includes his Swamp skier [and some new masks]! The rest of the wave is a sort of "Expanded universe". Flint in Cobra disguise is from the mini series 'The Revenge of Cobra'. And Specialist Trakker is none other than Matt Trakker from M.A.S.K.! How cool is that? Is a M.A.S.K. revival in our future?

And here are pics of Wave 8.

    - Cobra Ninja (Ninja Viper)
    - Cobra Infantry (Cobra Trooper)
    - Python Patrol Elite Trooper (Python Crimson Guard)
    - Dreadnok (Ripper)
    - G.I.Joe Mine Detector (Tripwire)
    - Cobra Underwater Trooper (Diver)

I'm excited for the Eel. He was always one of my favorites as a kid. I used hm with all my figures, not just Joes. Gave him a different name, created a whole story for him and used to draw pictures of him. Don't know why, guess it was just a really cool looking design to me.
