    Genre: song vig

Thanks to my beta Rowan Jade [:D] the best sister a girl can ask for :D
And once again Durell can be blamed for the vig [face_whistling]
She is such an overeager muse :p]

    "Advertising Space"

In the end it was his decision. Nobody could really blame him, but all did. He was the Chief of State who lost Coruscant. Not that it wouldn?t have been lost anyway. In retrospect it hardly mattered.

It was he who made the decisions from the beginning.
It was he who ignored warnings from celebrities and scientists.
It was he who wanted his home planet protected.
It was he who had the last word in fleet decisions.
It was he who plotted for his own glory.

In the end he was a coward and in a way a hero.

A coward because he hid out in his office in the last battle, refusing to give necessary orders.

A hero because he tried at least to lure Tsavong Lah into a trap to blow him up with a part of his ground forces.

That it didn?t work wasn?t his fault. What he didn?t know was that the Warmaster was watching from orbit and saw the explosion and the last act of the Chief of State.

There's no earthly way of knowing
    What was in your heart
    When it stopped going
    The whole world shook
A storm was blowing through you

This Chief of State had a singular way to run the galaxy. He directed all in a way that would fit to his own benefit. He did what was best for him and nobody else. It didn?t matter how many suffered under his selfishness, how many got hurt. It only counted that he could reach his goal. Even then, when many didn?t understand what it would be good for.

What he said wasn?t necessarily the truth but always to his benefit. Most of the time at least. It had happened that his plotting led him into troubles. Into deep troubles. A miscalculated decision led into a mess for several highly decorated Rebels. He suffered terribly for it. For once, he lost the support from diverse factions.

The council let it look like he was the bad guy. As if he would ever help the Imperials.

Waiting for God to stop this
And up to your neck in darkness
    Everyone around you was corrupted
    Saying somethin'

He was among the group who found the data about the second Death Star. It was him who the Rebellion could thank for it. Had it not been for him, the Rebellion would have been wiped out of existence.

Perhaps that was the reason the council spoke of him freely but the damage was done. He had nothing left. But it wouldn?t be like him if something like this incident would stop him. He fought back.

    He started plotting his comeback.

    There's no dignity in death
To sell the world your last breath
    They're still fighting over
    Everything you left over

In the end he managed it, to reach his highest goal. He became Chief of State. That this time of his life would be horror, ruled by war he surely didn?t intend. But ignorant as he was and not wanting to let his well laid out plans gets disrupted, he refused to believe the coming threat from the unknown regions.

    He paid dearly for it.

Early on he refused to work together with Skywalker and his Jedi. He left them on their own on Yavin, nearly it can be said, sold them to the attackers.

It was said that those strangers, these warrior folk, would search for Jedi. This only led to more rejection from him. He had his group he could blame for all the missteps, loses and deaths.

In the end it was a Skywalker who offered in a helpless situation help. But it was already too late for him. No hope left for the former proud Chief of State. No possible escape without repudiation damage.

Great job Mags! Very nice portrayal of Borsk. Almost makes me feel sorry for the guy - youcould technically say he fell to the Dark Side, as the Old Order would probably put it. Consumed by his own desires, yet never willing to face up and take the blame for his own mistake.

You're handling those rabid plot bunnies quite well.

Very nice portrayal of Borsk. Almost makes me feel sorry for the guy

Glad you think so, yeah but only almost :p

? you could technically say he fell to the Dark Side, as the Old Order would probably put it. Consumed by his own desires, yet never willing to face up and take the blame for his own mistake.

Borsk never made mistakes, he was always misunderstood :p ;)
But yes you probably can but it that way.

You're handling those rabid plot bunnies quite well.

    :p I hope they vanish soonish ;)

Nice protrayla of Borsk there, Maggy. Can't really say anything else, as it's almost all been said.

Still, it was his own fault. Anyone have any idea how he got elected chief of state?

Silly Mookie! Don't you know that the rabid plot bunnies are good???

As I said before, I really think you pulled of the Ballistic Bothan with a flair that is exceptional. You made him almost likeable. Okay, I know that's an impossible task and NO ONE could make him likeable but you got darn close.

You did a good job of showing how he got more annoying/corrupted as time went on and he got closer to the goals he'd set for himself. We all know how driven those Bothans are when it comes to power and control and Borsk is the most driven of them all. You did well with the growing need he had for even more power.

His epitaph should be "Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely" because he is the poster child for that.

Bravo dearest sister. As always, a job well done. [:D]

    This is excellent, Maggy!

He kept to his motto even in death.

    They poisoned you with compromise
At what point did you realise
    Everybody loves your lies
    But you ahahh

That was the fabulous life of Borsk Fey?lya.

    That says it all!

thanks for the almost, I would have been worried :p
would be a challenge to write him likeable huh?

You did a good job of showing how he got more annoying/corrupted as time went on and he got closer to the goals he'd set for himself. yes they can be very stubborn
I think his goals grow with every step he mastered.

His epitaph should be "Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely" because he is the poster child for that.

    yes he is [face_thinking]
I?m not sure if he beats Palpy though ;)

Bravo dearest sister. As always, a job well done. [:D]

Great, Mags :D Very original! You don't see many Borsk pieces around and you certainly seem to have your own style. The song lyrics worked well too :)

Mags: :D Great stuff... you know a 'fic is good when it makes you think in about three directions at once...

Borsk as hero; Borsk as villain... Borsk as Elvis?! [face_laugh] :D

And what do you call Bothan plotbunnies anyway? Plotpuppies? :p

Very nicely written, too - good interaction between the prose and the song...
