I have a registered [legit :)] copy After Effects 5.5, Standard version.

Am I reading the Adobe site correctly that to upgrade to 6.5 Pro is $499?!?

That stinks if true. I can swing $199, but $500 for an upgrade sux.

So I'm guessing a $500 upgrade is my only option?
    [besides staying where I'm at]

Unless you can get academic pricing, I'd think so.

But hey, there's nothing wrong with 5.5.

On all the Adobe forums, they rave that the extra features of 6.5 pro are well worth the price.

    Of course it's Adobe's forum. :)

I'm going to have to agree with Funk-E on this one

Have you and Funk have used 6.5 pro to compare it to 5.5?

Particle, Color/grain, and Motion track features not worth the $$??

I've got the production bundle of 5.5, so I've got particle stuff, color/grain type things, and motion tracking. I also spent some money on a few third-party plugins (Trapcode's stuff, notably), and I've never felt 'left out'.

That's the deal.....I'd be happy to go 5.5 pro, but it's the same price as 6.5 pro to upgrade [from standard].

I also work with 5.5 Pro and I´m very pleased with it. But nonetheless I´ll update soon. Some new features like the grain removing tools, clone stamp tool like in PS, improved motion tracker, keylight and color finesse have attracted me so much that I´m sure the update is well worth it. But if I didn´t have the money to update I´d be glad to be able to work with 5.5. forever.

I have tried 6.5. Its ok but I bet it won't run on my comp. 5.5 PB is ok for me.
