Oceania Aeon Flux: the movie. Will it be too Cerebral for general audiences or watered down?

God bless SBS! I used to love/be confounded by that show!

Well it's an actress playing a superhero. How many superhero movies with a female lead have done well lately?

 

there's potential though.

Look at other examples: Roman epics had become terrible flops before Gladiator came around.

Same with Science Fiction fantasy before Star Wars.

From what I've seen already Charlize Theron seems to be pretty no-nonsense and reminds me of what Aeon Flux felt like initially.


There is a chance it will suck but it could easily be an enjoyable film depending on the director.

 

Mark Stephen Johnson made Elektra way overstylised and "Xtreme"

Plus Aeon Flux isn't the only driving force behind the animated series, so perhaps the movie will include the other participants in the movement, or even those who trained her.

I havent seen the trailer yet so I dunno.

I've seen the original, and I've seen bits and pieces of the movie, and it don't look good.

I've seen the trailer, not really anything to shout about. Then again I haven't seen the original series so I can't make any type of comparison. Still, maybe you and I should see it when it's released so we can have a funky arguement over it, johnnage?

 

I WANT this movie to be good. I want to like it, as I love the cartoon so much (one of the best parts of my staurday night all those years ago, with MTV's Oddities ...oh the Maxx, why can't I find you on DVD? And of course, Liquid Television.... *sigh*) Wait, where was I? Oh yes. I will go see Aeon Flux, mainly because it will be a chance to see Charlize Theron in tight clothes, and because I really really want it to be good.

I'm gonn see it anyway. Perhaps it could scrape in as a guilty pleasure for me, like Chronicles of Riddick or Judge Dredd.

And Chronicles of Riddick ....that movie was worth it for the hawtness.

 

I hate Vin Diesel but I thought there was nothing wrong with the Chroincles of Riddick! ( believe in the auter theory, so I went to see what David Twoy could do, and not to see Vin Diesel! )

Have you seen the Sequel to Pitch Black "Dark Fury" which happens before Chronicles?

it's done by the same dudes behind the Aeon Flux series. Twas cool!

 

Loved Pitch Black. Very dark and fun. Haven't seen the sequel or bridging animated part either. Perhaps that's something else I can catch up on.
