You've seen that person - the one who can't stop writing, can't stop posting, can't stop finding time to pound out 50-bazillion-word epics. Don't you just hate that person? Wouldn't you like to find a way to muzzle that individual? You know - duct tape for the Internet?

In this thread we share tips for achieving this goal. All kinds of suggestions are welcome! Here are a few of mine:

    1) Reading and NOT responding.

    2) Completely ignoring the writer in the hopes that he/she will lose confidence, give up writing, and leave the boards in a waterfall of tears.

    3) Offer to give concrit, and then send back the chapter with a red line through every verb.

    4) Steal every plot bunny that gets posted, to rob the writer of storytelling opportunities.

    5) Constantly up every single thread except for that writer's threads, so that the latter threads get buried, no one reads/replies to them, and the writer gets discouraged, loses confidence, gives up writing, and leaves the boards in a Niagara of tears.

Unsolicited concrit is the way to go, IMHO.

With every reply, mention that the plot is full of holes, characterization is off, there are too many earthisms, the protagonist is whiny and obnoxious, the antagonist is boring, there is no chemistry in the love story, and the title is lame.

Explain to them that every writer in the universe is better than them and that you are only telling them that because you are a good friend and want what's best for them.

Get a mod friend to remove every third story that they write.

Explain to them in a condescenging manner that they've not been writing long enough (like some of us have) to be able to truly characterize the following characters well:

    1. Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.

    2. Red astro-droid with new exploding head plate action.

    3. Second Jawa on the right.

    4. Wuher

    5. Stormtrooper TX-four-one-two

    6. Sio Bibble

    7. Corde, Dorme, Eirtae, Yan, Rabe, Sache, Bombay

    8. Jocasta Nu

    9. Boss Nass

    10. Anyone weilding a lightsaber.

Hey, there are no Darth Overachieving Writers here! *Hides sig with the shameful number of words on her latest fic in it.*

Here's how to really do it:

No matter what the main point of the story is, tell them that they are getting the political science, the psychological analysis, the judicial system, the characterization and the pacing wrong and that, by the way, they mispunctuated your reader reply. They will either write twice as much or curl up into a ball and die. Especially do this for humor fics.

Have a sock post TOS violations in the writer's 10 other stories, blame it all on the writer, and get the mods to lock those 10 other stories. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

    *deletes ten epics at random*

That should slow some of 'em down.
