Phx Aftermath: Memories/Comments on the AZmills line-up!

well, it was a hell of a ride!

just wanted to put up a thread for people to share their favorite memories of the line, or to comment about what you thought was good or not so good about it. any input would be appreciated, so we can make the next line even better!

 

would have to be the view askew-a-thon in the command center...me...denied, sideshow, his chick, and DARTH FELDMAN!

NOT GOOD
the sun
heat

GOOD
just about everything else

You guys did a great job and as far as im concerned, it was something I will never forget.

 

good:

- corey feldman as a jawa
- harry potter
- electronic entertainment devices (like video games, perverts)
- free food
- alice cooper
- freaky old dude

bad:

- fabio
- horrendously stupid mall patrons
- heat
- news people with no ****ing clue about star wars
- not enough power outlets
- power outlets sparking when plugging things in
- no internet
- no bed
- removal of porto potties
- roaches
- not enough shade
- sideshow's ego

that's about all i can think of.

 

yeah, i see how it is. leave me out of the equation, what, with my jedi stripper music and all.. ;D

Warm evenings
Shade during the day

BAD:
Not being able to get popcorn before entering the theater

 

Good:
-The warm fuzzy feeling when I discovered I was at the head of the line.
-Instant family and friends...no where else.
-Knowing that I could leave hundreds of dollars worth of equipment outside a tent without worrying about it. Everybody rocks!
-Laughing at the peon line.
-The Emperor.
-Being on TV.

Bad:
-No more than 5 hours a sleep, per night, for 2 weeks, on the sidewalk.
-No portos for a week.
-3 dings in my car door.
-waking up in a pool of sweat when the sun hit my tent in the wee hours of the morning.

 

Good:

IT WAS ALL GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

 

GOOD:
Meeting everyone face to face.
Finally having a Rebel Fleet Trooper to blast.

BAD:
Gameworks being dinks and not letting us enter the joint with our helmets on.

Eff 'em.

 

The Good:

• AOTC Go Yoda!
• Fee Soda
• The Stimulating Conversation and Hanging out with crazy fans like me!
• Dan Harkins for being a cool fan and film inthusiast!
• 501st
• Red Tickets!
• My wife for letting me go!
• night time Hacky Sack game!
• The costumes!

The Bad:

• People Throwing Water balloons at my tent!
• Not being able to stay every night
• Evil Radio Stations
• No Porta Jons

The Ugly:

Scheduling conflicts and comments like "Do you have a job?" ha ha ha

Fistfull of Weirdos:

Strange old guys and weird people trying to sell you their "Star Wars Books"

 

good:

-getting out of my hometown for a week
-meeting the most awesome people while waiting in line; including darthfeldman, tons-o-fun, lordvorpel, and others who i don't know screen names of
-chillin with jupitertronic in a tent with obi-wan standing guard
-waking up to the samba de amigo videogame
-lightsabre duels at two a.m.
-vorpel's emperor impression
-feldman's jawa costume

bad:

-110 degree heat
-reporters who don't know what's up
-the infamous scooby doo retards
-waking up to the samba de amigo videogame
-waiting for the mall to open in the morning to use the facilities
-feldman's coke habit
-feeling like zoo inhabitants

ugly:

spectators, fabio, and three-dollar boba fett

 

Yeah i forgot (thankfully) about the Scooby rejects.. and as for 3 dollar boba fett... at least he tried right?
Its more than some people did.

I had lots of fun.. Maybe even TONS OF FUN!!

The Good:

Everybody that thought my son was adorable. LOL
Everybody was *so* nice!
The whole experience...wow!

The Bad:
Not getting to spend as much time as I wanted.
Arriving at 7:30 in the morning my first and only real day, when almost everybody was asleep so I didn't really know what to do or how to do it. bleck
The heat.
The gawkers.
Being too shy to talk to people more.
Allergies.
Not getting to spend as much time as I wanted.

 

good:

pretty much everything else except for...

bad:
not spending as much time in line as I wanted.
It would have been awesome if that company would have helped with the internet like they said they were. I wanted t osee the video and current time standings and everything else that you guys had expertly planned but were not able to do.
People passing by that can't read signs.

 

Ah the moments burned forever in my mind....

Good:
haveing a dedicated group of friends surprise the ***t out of me by showing up.
being the second person in line.
haveing Jupitertronic as a line neighbor.
haveing line staff hangout in the Gamersedge pagoda
getting several pitures in the paper, and being quoted, and being on the news.
takeing pictures for Obey Wann
running after the 501st to get said pictures
haveing josh, jody, kristy and others come by and constantly ask how i was doing. thanks guys
dealing with the cool ppl that asked questions
free stuff
that jawa dude...umm cory
the emperor ( great job vorpel)
Mirax showing up with her friends
getting grilfriend to log more that 40 hours in line.
Meeting new ppl.

Heat stroke

no porta johns

know far to much from the spoilers
ending up with everyones (my group) extra stuff after the movie....Bastards

 

The good:

-Making soome incredible friends and solidifying friendships with "the crew".

-The pictures and media madness

-Time with the 501st, even if I did spend mist of my time in binders.

-all of the rest of it


The bad:

Not having the $$$ or the time to spend more in line, on stuff, and with you all




It was absolutely fantastic. I will make arrangements to be there for more of it next time.

And next time, it's just as important to have people staffed up to record TV as it is to have them on staff at the event (on big media nights)

 

I was reading through a thread about the LA Lineup that Kessel Runner started. There was one post that caught my eye:

Everyone in line got tattoos this week. It's a symbol from AOTC. I'm *considering* it for myself.

 

the good:

-meeting people I only knew by screen name
-getting to hang out with a bunch of enthusiasts like me
-talking comics with void
-Alice Cooper
-tour of the projection room
-the infamous Mulder in a Speedo conversation

the bad:
-not being able to spend more time there

I don't know the answer to either of those questions. If I had to guess, I'd say "Wherever they wanted" to MJAZ's question, and "Probably the symbol they used for their lineup, the II behind Amadala's symbol" to Void's question.

 

Good:
all the conveniences of home, except for a ready toilet.
being able to clock in and out, as opposed to having to camp out and have someone save your place
HORSE CHICKS!
making new friends who are completely comfortable with all your weirdoness in only a matter of a couple weeks
the leeto security guards who actually had the cops called on the scooby rejects
CRAZY OLD GUY!
vanilla coke (okay...maybe not)

Bad:
people who obviously have no say in who really is a 'freak'
people wondering why no one dressed up as Spock
people who come up to you in line saying "i already have my tickets, so why are you waiting?"
people who say "there's no line in chandler!"

 

Yeah, what ever happend to Crazy Old Man? Did he even show up to see the movie?

-- wondering why the dorks at the movie theater on a Tuesday morning are asking if *I* have a job
-- the heat
-- cleaning up after... others **ahem**
-- 15 year-old training-bra brats
-- a record breaking box-office weekend on our first weekend in line (even though Spiderman is great!)
-- still being targeted as a kung-fu demonstration dummy


IA, are you suggesting that those of us from our line get tattoos, too? (needles... EEP!!)
