Californium is so named because it was discovered by a team at UC Berkeley.
Yes, and they already had their own element. Californium is just redundant and overkill.
God, I love some of the tangents people go on in this thread.
We have invented a new element, and we shall call it . . . This Land.
"I think we should call it your grave."
We should call the next element discovered "Surprise." "Ah, yes, the element of surprise. It's highly unstable and has to be created synthetically in the laboratory."
I heard that someone on the CBC Facebook ask if the gravity stuff turned the doctor into Venom.
In other Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D stuff:
Dr. Phillip Gravitone thought his name was fortunate, given his chosen profession, but the acclaim has only resulted in mockery.
Nah I say we call the next one "Fear". "Now is not the time for Fear! That comes later. We need elements of iron and boron first!"
Looks like Agents of S.H.I.EL.D. will get a full 22 episode season afterall.
Good decision. I wasnt convinced it could take out NCIS but it did this week which is huge.

The Man in Black returns as a Man in Black. Sweet!
The third episode apparently beat out NCIS in the key demo- something the first two episodes did not.
Yayyyyy now they can drag out plot lines! Hooray!
That person is an idiot.
It took out NCIS? Good. Gooooood.
Apparently fans at New York Comic Con got to see episode four "Eye - Spy" yesterday (and spoilers are already up on Bleeding Cool), so heads up for the spoiler phobic.
"Hoping for something and then losing it is worse than never hoping at all."
I loved this quote from Skye. I found her insufferable for most of the episode but it was interesting to see her get some background and development, and I thought for a few minutes that she might actually join Quinn.
Coulson was better in this episode than he was in the last one. And Professor Hall--interesting "grey" character there. I like his invention and his attempt to protect it from Quinn, even if he went about it wrong.
And Agent May wants back in the field? SWEET.
Be a scientist. Watch any TV show. Get over this issue quickly, or just turn off all shows entirely.
I just find the show insulting. There is nothing clever about it at all.
On the subject of the show itself, I always took it to be a case that it would take a couple of weeks, even half the season for it to find it's feet. They're getting tighter with the writing and characters, and once they stop setting up many of the mysteries and working into them it will get even better.
There is nothing to "get over." We playfully noted that they got something wrong, and people acted like their mother's grave had just been desecrated. If there's anything for anyone to "get over," it's the hyper-sensitivity to criticism displayed by some of this show's fans.
Isn't NCIS the top rated network show? Wow.
It's not super surprising, they have the Marvel name on it and if they mention Iron Man or any of the other little Easter eggs every episode the fans will say how cool it is regardless of the quality. And SLJ making an appearance as well.
Hopefully this marks the end of NCIS. Bah, it's probably wishful thinking on my part. Besides, it was only one episode. Once it's consistently beating it out, I'll cry tears of joy.
