Phx Ahh Good Ol' Fashioned Rumors... :D

I've been having a grand old time trying to comfort the reciepients of a rumor floating around about me. I've tried to quell it for the sake of others involved, and had decided not to say anything further about it, but it just keeps on growing to the distress of friends of mine pulled into it.

So, in an effort to stop it for their sakes, I've decided to open a new and interesting thread all about rumors.

In this thread each person posts about a rumor they have heard about THEMSELVES and gets to respond to it, no matter how old.

The only rule is that you have to make up a new and even better one about yourself after your response!

Hee hee...let's make this fun!

And please, no bashing, no blaming, no hurting others....this is meant purely for fun and you're only allowed to make up rumors about yourself. I find that most rumors about me are quite funny and I like to think of even better ones. I mean, if you're gonna start a rumor, at least make it good right?

I'll go first...

 

Recently there's been a very interesting rumor floating around. I have no idea who has started it, and I really don't care to find out. It's pretty good, but I think I can do better...

The current rumor goes like this:

Guess what I heard? I heard that Rachel told someone who told someone who told me, that she's leaving her husband, getting a divorce, and moving to Phoenix for someone in the PFF! [face_shocked]



My response: Ummm... NO. I've never told anyone that and I don't plan on moving to Phoenix without him, or leaving him and I'm certainly not getting a divorce.


I think I can DEFINATELY top that one!

Guess what I heard?! I heard that Rachel told someone who told someone who told me that she is secretly working for the Columbian drug lords smuggling illegal Morphine into the country and is selling it to addicted patients for $1000 a pop! [face_shocked] She is a nursing student after all! [face_shocked]

Here's an oldie of mine:

When I was in HS there was this incident one weekend where someone was giving me a great deal of grief and after a few warnings I simply turned around and decked him. Okay, so I shattered his nose Anyway, by the time school started on Monday, the story had become as follows:

Rumor: He & I had been well, you know how these things start out. Anyway, I supposedly caught him w/ another girl, and we had this huge fight, and he slapped me and I proceded to kick the stuffing out of him and put him in the hospital. And I spent the night in jail.

Reality: I punched a drunk butthead in the face and he had a broken nose. My friends wisked me away before any police were involved and I'm not sure they ever were. There was no relationship, there was no "other girl," it was a simple matter of a group of teenagers at a hang-out spot drinking and otherwise engaged and one of them became a jerk and was taught a lesson for it.

Outcome: I was a feared creature for the remainder of my tenure at the school. No matter how many times someone explained what really happened, all anyone would say was, "Watch it or you'll end up in the hospital!"

New Rumor: I was actually on a secret mission to discredit said individual and prove to the world that he was just a weak minded coward w/ a "glass jaw" and thereby ruin his chances of ever running for President

Oh man...the only rumor that seems to go around about me is that I am 'butch'...never get anything juicy!

Reality: Ask Doug!

 

I should have a really good current one by next Monday. I asked a good friend whose going through a divorce to go w/ me to my company holiday party. And in this office, I wouldn't be surprised if I was pregnant by Monday

We'll just have to wait and see

EDIT: Sistine-I get that one a lot too. But I just figure it's people w/ too much time and not enough intellect or imagination

 

Here's a good one from high school...

Rumor: You know how Rachel's been friends with that guy for so long? I hear she's pregnant with his kid and that their parents are making them get married over Christmas Break. They're gonna live with his parents and she'll finish school after the baby is born.

My response: With that guy?!!! Yeah right!

Reality: Some girl in my Chemistry class hated my guts. I was getting an A without really studying and she was flunking despite her efforts. She also had a crush on my friend and was convinced that we were together. She wanted to ruin my good name and take him for herself.

Outcome: I just laughed when I heard it. It told the guy and he and I played off of it for weeks. We had the entire school thinking it was true...messed with their heads. It was a lot of fun. Oh, and that girl, she flunked and I never heard of her again.

New Rumor: Rachel is an undercover agent for the Food and Drug Administration. She's working under the guise of a nursing student trying to discover doctors in her area that are mis-prescribing drugs to patients upon request. I hear she's come up with quite a list of docs prescribing Viagra for any man who asks for it! [face_shocked]

 

I can't wait to hear it on Monday Zoo!!

I think we've all experienced the "butch" rumor Sistine...definately people with no imagination.

Okay, well, while I can't say there are any rumors floating around about me - at least, not that I've HEARD - I AM aware of what some people have ... eh... thought. hee hee. Pretty funny too, but I'm not going to go into details.

Anyway, here's a good one:

I'm a covert operations specialist for the secret underground government of Antarctica. I'm searching out new recruits in our slow, yet highly successful, plan of taking over the world. Few of you know how close you are to being an Antarctic Patriot.

The rumor: After high school, I became a raging heroine addict and lived on the streets.

The reality: Not even close. Told to a mutual friend (I don't have any idea why) by someone I barely know as a piece of hot gossip. Any of you who know me, know how ludicrous this one is! I thought it was pretty funny. (I only wonder if anyone thinks it might be true. I skipped the 10 year reunion this year. )

New one: I had Harrison Ford's love child, but we had to send him to live among pygmies to avoid the press.

 

Aww...c'mon Zoo!!! We all know they're false! It's good fun and you get to give a rebuttle...most of us never get that chance with a rumor.

C'mon...

Rumor: I slept with an entire prep school basketball team

Reality: I was in a band w/ these people and the guys all went to a private prep school (and some of them played basketball). I met them while I was playing basketball and landed in two of their laps while diving for a-(ah, edited for the sake of preserving the PG nature of the board). Anyway they were 2 years ahead of me in school and were just waiting for our lowly 7th grader girls game to be over before they wiped the floor w/ our 9th grade guys. They stopped to talk to me after the game and I introduced my best friend to her future husband (awwwwww - about to celebrate 16 years of marriage). Anyway, I did date a couple of guys from the school (must have been the uniforms ). But I was at every basketball game (cheering my friends on) and everyone knew me. So, there was this group of girls from my school who were always trolling for one of the prep school boys and I guess they were jealous of my friendship w/ the guys they wanted to date.

Outcome: I came back from winter break in 9th grade to find out that I was the biggest slut to hit the halls ever. I had people making all kinds of rude comments and a couple of guys thought it meant they could use "inappropriate contact" w/ me (that lasted as long as it took me to cold-cock a few of them). Followed me to high school and eventually went away. However, it came back to haunt me at my 10 year reunion. When someone brought it up I literally did a spit take. Spewed my Coke across the table and bust out laughing. However, in 9th/10th grade I was not that cool about it.

New Rumor: Did you hear that ZOO is thinking about getting a brain transplant?

So who else has a nice juicy rumor about themselves they'd like to share!

Ok, I'll play.

Rumor: When I first started working for the police department I was assigned to ride along with an officer to get to know the area. They chose who I rode with and it was a guy that was happily married with a couple kids and 15 years older than me. So for about 4 days I rode along with him on assignment. The guy knows every nook and cranny of that town with his eyes closed and has forotten more than I will ever know about law enforcement. So anyway, we struck up a friendship and so I started riding around with him when I wasn't busy or to wind down after shift. Well needless to say, it took about 2 weeks for rumors to really start flying. So the next thing I know according to everyone I'm sleeping with the guy.

The truth: he was and is an awesome officer, he knows his stuff, he knows the town so well that he knows what the new streets are gonna be named before they put a buldozer in to build them and he has the great sick sense of humor that I do, so we are good buddies.

Side note: How we got even.

We were both furious about the rumors at first and hurt. So we sat down with his wife and talked about it, then figured out how to get even. We played on it. Every day he started going and buying us lunch, and coming in and having lunch with me, I met up with him every night after work at the local dennys so EVERYONE could see my truck parked right next to his patrol car. To top it off, his wife was really going out of town the weekend of our christmas party, so I was his "date" for the evening. Man, it's amazing how everyone shut up, real quick. Ohh we then wen't to the chief and filed a complaint about the preson who had actually started the rumor because she had done so with malicious intent.

Now, a rumor about me that I start? Ok, lets hope this one comes true. I won the lotter and am now 80million dollars richer.

 

hmm let me try one of my favorites.



Me and one of my bests friends took a welding class last year. the class was acutally pretty boring cause the teacher didnt like us, so he didt teach us that much. so she and i would sit in our welding booth and just talk about stuff. the class was filled with a bunch of people that would think gray matter between the ears only happened when they had a cold. Her and I are such good friends people thought we had something going on. so when they did not see sparks from our welding booth, they thought we were getting it on. and since it was hot in the booths we of course would walk out of the booth sweating with out welding coats unbuttoned. so the rumors flew. but in our good fun we decided to play on it. so we would always walk around hanging off each other, she contantly grabbing my butt etc. it was great. so when the empty headed classmates got the nerve to ask us, we had a field day with that . she blushed and said yes and then we made them freak out by her grabbing my chest. we joked that i had the best manboobs in the school . the thought we actually were doing it in class.

it didt help that we both grunted in the booth from trying to get the electrode unstuck from the metal. they always gave us the most awed looks.

ok my rumor. actually i am a forty five year old man living in california, working for Luca film making sure that we spread false info about EPIII and ensuring that nothing secret gets out without us know. that why i have yet to make a meeting ZOO

JW-The tongues are already starting to wag and all I did was turn in the dinner requests for the party It should be a good one by the time Friday rolls around and a real gut buster by Monday

 

I dont have any rumors. I was always such a good and innocent boy.
