I also thought she was annoying the Clone Wars movie but grew to really like her - and respect her. I think her arc is the best depiction of a Jedi's progression from Padawan to Knight that we have ever seen. Luke and Anakin's evolution had to be rushed due to time constraints with live film.

We were introduced to this young Padawan it seems so long ago but by the end of Season 5...I personally saw her as Jedi Knight material. Unfortunately, well...you know...

Yes, your request to censor the opinions of others simply because their opinions make you unhappy, is too much to ask. I'm not sure why that's hard to understand. Use the ignore button on those of us whom you think are "too negative" if you are so determined to create a sunshine-and-rainbows dictatorship in which no one makes cartoon characters cry.

    [face_ROTFLMAO]

So it's not OK to make negative comments about a cartoon character, but attempting to insult real people who make those comments is perfectly OK?

Probably the time when you questioned her morality.

I did enjoy the implication that you were a hero and she a villain in this absurd discussion, though.

Yes, it is far too much to ask.

    No, we can't.

The expression of negativity is often vital when one disagrees.

He has deemed it necessary, therefore it is necessary. It is also not even close to being against the rules of the Jedi Council Forums.

How? Is disdain not "negative" in the minds of people who disdain negativity?

Apparently what you would label "negativity" I would often label appraisal, which I find valuable.

Look what all of this negativity went and did to poor Herclu. Nietzsche was right... He who fights with monsters might take care lest he become a monster.

If you disrespect a cartoon character long enough, eventually others will begin slandering actual people because of their differing opinion. Look at all this repaying evil with evil. It's a sick, sick world and everyone is now infected. :(

I can see I'm outnumbered here so I will concede. My point of the morality quote was not to call anyone evil or claim that I was a hero because I thought differently. It was merely to show the differing sides to the discussion since the use of derogatory statements is in fact a moral issue regardless of who they're directed at. Also, i had just watched the episode that quote lead into and I really liked it lol.

It was not my intention to start all this, I was merely expressing my beliefs against any form of derogatory or slanderous comments (towards anyone or anything, fictional or real) but I guess those thoughts are few and far between these days. So again I apologize for the scale this seems to have grown too and this will be my last post on the matter.

Live long and prosper all :)

A comment was made regarding the development of Ahsoka's caharacter from padawan to near Jedi and how, unlike Anakin and Obi Wan, it had more time to be explored. I think this is a good point and it certainly gives the impression that she could be used in later films because her backstory has been set down and their is some mysteriousness about what she did in the inetrvening years.

been reading your posts with great interest,

I'm not about to "LOL" at any of the points you make, or make fun of your opinions especially in the light of your past, and also in view of your registration date (we are friendly here I promise) but the point people are making here is that Ahsoka Tano isn't real, she's not reading these posts blowing into a handerkerchief (even if she was real, I doubt any negative comment would affect her seeing that she's a GFFA Goddess it seems in the show) so I do have a question for you if you're still here

how can someone here express dislike for her character without offending you? serious question as I'd like to meet on your level of disscussing it

But seriously, please don't take it to heart that some people really dislike the character (I'm not among them - I happen to like Ahsoka as I said, now if you bring up *shudder* Mara Jade, that's a different story!) - this honestly doesn't make them horrible evil 'haters'. FWIW, Anakinfansincewhendinosaursroamedtheearth - (Sorry Trace, can't be bothered to look up your new handle :p) - and I have been friends for over 10 years now, (met here at TF.N) and obviously disagree on this subject. This doesn't mean I'm going to lure her back to Seattle with the promise of coffee, then smother her with a pillow.. well, only if she insist on drinking Starbucks.

Yeah, sorry, not gonna happen. Mayne it should and maybe it shouldn't; maybe it's the best idea in the world or the worst, but Disney is simply just not ever going to do it.

Fine, she's hit fan-favourite status, but what about all the people who haven't watched TCW? It'd alienate fans who don't know her backstory and it would give PT bashers an immediate reason to bitch about the ST - I like her, but c'mon... A whole movie devoted to her?

She was already on the cusp of slipping into annoyance for me (too much of a good thing, anyone?). And worser still, most of the speculation reeks so much of dumb Fanboyism... 'Evil' Ahsoka? Chloe Moretz? What next? She was exiled to Mandalore, trained by the Fetts and all whilst being made to wear a slave Leia bikini?!

Sure, it'd be nice to give a nod to her for the fans - a mention in some scripture? Or maybe as a background character paying respects at a tribute to Anakin... But just leave it at that. Make room for some fresh faced characters and a few oldies instead!

Yes, a whole movie devoted to Ahsoka! C'mon man, what do you think it would be? Ahsoka against a blank white screen for one hour and forty-seven minutes? Talk about scare-crow arguments! Anyways, I would also love an Ahsoka movie, so would many other people I gather, especially the young female Ahsoka fans. I don't understand all the hate towards this character. I'm going to start a campaign for a new Ahsoka spin off movie.

I'm still trying to figure out why there are folks here actually arguing in favor of a new animated series starring Ahsoka Tano, when TCW's just wrapped after five seasons of Ahsoka starring in her own vehicle. Over 100 episodes. Yes, there were other characters vital to making the show what it was (and yes, Ahsoka did not feature in every single storyline), but Tano was the original character in the starring role. The Clone Wars was her story, and now it's done.

Honestly, guys and gals, she's already had her fair shake as a character. Here's a radical notion: how about we turn our attention to new characters with new storylines. Heck, even the most beloved characters in the history of the franchise had to wait 30 years to get another stab at the big screen (and they're likely going to be passing the torch to a new generation, anyway).

And before any Little 'soka lovers come beating down my door, know that I was an ardent fan of TCW who never missed an episode. As with some others, Tano grew on me over the years. It does frustrate me to think that TCW was ended before we had resolutions for a number of storylines, but Ahsoka's is really not one of them. She had a fine moment of closure all of her own, where she literally walked-off into the sunset (and against all logic and reason, I'll bet that's more than Luke, Leia or Han will get in the ST).

You want to know more about her life after leaving the Temple? Hopefully it will be in a novel, because honestly, if it must carry on any further, that's where I feel it belongs. I suppose the only way I could envision Tano on screen again is in a direct-to-DVD, animated picture, but another starring role in a second series, directly on the heels of the cancelled first? Really, folks? Sometimes I just don't understand human behavior.

Well, this thread is about an Ahsoka stand alone film. It's not necessarily about her starring in another series. As far as human nature is concerned, you are exemplifying one of our dominant human traits: competition. You just posted that long-winded spiel to try and dissuade people from discussing an Ahsoka stand alone film in a thread entitled:

    "Ahsoka Stand Alone film???"

You must really be opposed to Ahsoka having a stand alone film, huh? Oh well, it'll be interesting what all the haters have to say, when they see exactly how integral this character will continue to be in the future.

Have a nice day and keep hating.

Well, I clearly don't think it'd be that. I made NO assumptions to the content bar the main character - so thats an invalid point. See, this is the kinda fanboy nonsense I was on about... I barely even touched the character, I even said I liked her, but because I presented some relatively fair and logical reasoning to back up my opinion - you've misinterpreted my words and tried to use them against me! I'm all for a debate, but instead of being facetious regarding the films content, why not present me with a plot idea you'd like to see instead of calling me out on non-existent Scarecrowing?

Check my first paragraph, Ahsoka is alright! - but I'd hate to see a well developed character turn stagnant and become overused, or even poorly executed. If the plot was astounding, of course I'd welcome it regardless of who the lead was, I'd just rather see a fresh face is all, There's a whole galaxy out there, remember?

Like it or not - the market for her is simply too small. "Young female fans" is not gonna be the target demographic for these films, nor will they be aimed exclusively at TCW fans. Imagine the statistical differences between TCW viewers and just how many general SW fans are out there? (Not to mention the more casual movie-goers too!) ...The Clone Wars fans likely make up a small portion of the big number unfortunately, therefore it just isn't a viable strategy. If spin-offs with existing chatacters have to occur, the iconic faces and names (Solo, Obi Wan etc) are the way forward from a moneymaking perspective and if Disney want to appeal to a wider audience, and please lots of already existing fans.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not opposed to her appearing. Heck, I would even be happy to have her established as a side character - her in a movie crossing paths with an exiled Kenobi could be quite nice - but she would have to be treated and presented like a new character for the audience. Viewers shouldn't have to do leg-work on character backstories prior to a movie, and she has a fair bit of one. Bring her in as support - then the people who didn't know of her before can head off and watch TCW, those who don't care for her don't have to... Then, if she really explodes as a MOVIE character - then maybe consider giving her a movie of her own. Surely that makes logical sense? I just disagree with the mentality of 'THIS CHARACTER HAS SOME FANS. GIVE HER A FILM.' - I could even take or leave a Boba Fett movie in that respect but hey, he's a Sci Fi Pop Culture icon - they'll make their money back on merch alone where he's concerned.

Just stop and think about what I actually put in my posts before lumping me in with the mindless haters. I'm not hating on the character or the prequel era - I'm just being realistic.

EDIT: You really touched a nerve there and I'm usually pretty steely - the Force is strong in you.

Boy, the Little 'soka gushers are really touchy these days, huh? I wonder what recent event could have stirred such a sensation?

I only post here when I've an opinion to offer, in an honest attempt at furthering discussion. It's always been my M.O., and I'd encourage you to look it up, but as you've so clearly figured everybody out in the week you've been a part of our community, what would be the point in that?

No, it's simply that you've clearly no idea how to judge intent (as your assertion is so rediculously wild and off-the-mark) and, apparently, your comprehension skills are a bit lacking, as well. Look back through the posts from this topic (from before all of March 31) and see if you don't read folks pining for a new series starring Tano. That was the main thrust of my post and I was on topic throughout.

And I don't consider a dozen sentences, or so, to be particularly long-winded, but I suppose if the only reading one ever indulges in is on message boards and the like, I could see how it might be a bit much. Sorry to upset you so.

Oh, and finally, I explicitly stated that Ahsoka is a character who has grown on me over the years. But it would seem that whole challange of "comprehension" rears it's ugly, old head again. If I wasn't one to appreciate the rules of this board, I'd probably tell you to go to hell for calling me a hater, rather than addressing any of my points. But as I am, I suppose I'll have to just skip it.

I have stated elsewhere, on this forum, my reasons for wishing to see Ahsoka in a spin-off film, or in the ST. Shall I copy and paste them for you here? By the way, you're not going to drag me into some silly flame war, bait me into feeding into your hateful nonsense, or get me to say anything mean-spirited such as:

    1. "but as you've so clearly figured everybody out in the week you've been a part of our community, what would be the point in that?"
    2. "you've clearly no idea how to judge intent"
    3. "your comprehension skills are a bit lacking"
    4. "I suppose if the only reading one ever indulges in is on message boards and the like, I could see how it might be a bit much."
    5. "But it would seem that whole challange of "comprehension" rears it's ugly, old head again."
    6. "I'd probably tell you to go to hell for calling me a hater"

That sure was a lot of mean-spirited rhetoric. I find it rather amazing that all I had to do was come to a thread, that I thought would actually have some open-minded conversation about Ahsoka having her own spin-off film and instead I find a bunch of people calling anyone that advocates for the character a "gusher". Well I'm gushing, buddy. I'm gushing all over the place, had I known that what my reading level was, would be criteria for posting my opinion on Ahsoka Tano in a thread that seemed to be devoted to her in particular, I would have preceded my statements with a list of books that I have on one of my four bookshelves. As to my comprehension skills, I have been able to accurately ascertain that you are a mean-spirited individual that I would rather not associate myself with. My interest is in having a rational dialogue with like-minded Star Wars fans, which is my reason for joining this forum about a week ago. I didn't realize that I couldn't express my opinion as voraciously as you seem to feel free to express yours in that amount of time. There must be some trial period that I wasn't made aware of? Perhaps a probationary period, until which has expired, I must sit back and only watch as people come out to vehemently attack ideas that I present? Nahhhh, sorry, there's no such thing.

I'll be sure to copy and paste all my reasons for wanting to discuss the remote possibility of Ahsoka getting a spin off stand alone movie, in a thread titled as such, just for you.
