VIDEO Alien: Isolation

Thoughts so far on the 360 edition (anyone wishing to buy me an Xbox One go ahead).

Graphics look good for the 360. Yes, you actually have to sneak around, or you will die. Several hours in, and I've only encountered the alien a few times so far, but I imagine this is keeping in line with building up the suspense until the star beast attacks you full on. Just reached the mission where you meet the androids. Frakking toasters.

 

I'm about half way through the game and so far this game is exceeding my expectations. It's about the scariest game I've ever played, it captures the atmosphere of the original movie (and parts of 2 and 3, for that matter) perfectly, the story is decent, and the graphics are great. Frankly, IMO, this game should be a contender for GOTY.

BTW, the IGN review score is ridiculous. This game is light-years better than a 5.9 out of 10. If you like the Alien movies and if you like survival/horror games, you owe it to yourself to pick this gem up.

 

Anyone here having freezing issues? I'm interested in this game but I've read a lot from people whose games froze quite a bit, to the point where they lost saves. This seemed to have happened after they downloaded a patch that came out with the game. Has anyone experienced this?

 

I'm playing it on the XB1 and haven't had a single problem.

How similar is the gameplay to something like Amnesia?

 

I never played Amnesia but I can say that AI is somewhat like Outlast.

lol! I experienced that many times.

 

I did not play this game. I had a week off and spent a couple of hours per day watchign a complete run through with no commentary. I cannot even tell you how entertaining it was and the suspense was just great. Afterwards I looked up reviews and some folks had a problem with the ending. I woudl say those folks are wrong, it was perfect.

 

Because IGN is on Activision's payroll now and only cares about Call of Duty.
