    In this photo.....
..... there appears to be a Skrilling near Chewie on the top-left. Pote Snitkin is a Skrilling.

Also, standing across the table from Han and Leia, there appears to be Sloth from the Goonies. In the bottom-left panel.... that purple beetle critter..... is it preparing a pineapple salad, or are those rings gold betting pieces for some sort of game? Maybe it's setting the table for Maz's vision ritual. Is that half of a grapefruit sitting on the napkin? These are the questions I ponder.

Ya know if they ever replace Chewbacca I wouldn't mind a new alien main character (perhaps even a lead) that can speak galactic basic.

Love the Skrillings, and yeah, it could be. Though hard to tell.

Anyone else find the lack of familiar alien species disturbing?

I'm so hyped for the movie. I love all the trailers and teasers, and I love the approach of the creators (as seen in inteviews), but the lack of Twi'leks, Rodians, Togruta and other species we all know and love makes it less Star Wars than I would like it to be. It seems like they are trying too hard by making new aliens. And some of them are too similar to what we already know (like the almost-Ithorian guy in Maz Kanata's castle).

It's actually the only thing that makes me doubt it will be a 10/10 Star Wars movie.

Good point. But we are going to get at least one Mon Cal and Sullustan. And a Wookiee.

Yes, Twi'leks, Ithorians, Rodians and Biths should be somewhere.

I disagree I think it opens up the galaxy, we are getting some aliens we've seen before and characters, so why have our characters be around loads of aliens we've seen before when instead (as they are in different places of the galaxy) have them be around aliens yet unseen by our previous visits to the GFFA (we only see windows/slices into the galaxy after-all). If it was all the same aliens then that just makes the galaxy small and I bet people would be complaining about why they don't have some new aliens, so I'm happy with what they are doing...

So...who might the alien in the middle be? The other guys were spotted in the TFA BTS video. Possibly a few of Unkar Plutt's henchmen...

No, that's a practical thing, I think we've seen that as much in a BTS shoot.

Anyway, I don't mind mostly new aliens, it's a huge galaxy after all, so keep the different and weird stuff coming I say.

We know this guy was created practically. So I think it's either an amazing animatronic, or a really seamless blend of practical and CGI.

And even if it was fully CGI, it would be the best CGI I have ever seen. And thus, muy bueno.

Animatronics have advanced from the 80s. Who would have guessed?

I've seen a number of Duros that have the zig-zaggy pupils. The two in the cantina, and even Cad, appear to have tiny, constricted pupils. I'll guess the guy on the cover is Duros. His brow and mouth seem more Durosian than Neimoidian. I'm not willing to make any bets about this guess.
