We are, indeed, a Fandalorian rapid response squad.

As long as we're not a Fandalorian suicide squad... [face_whistling]

I, for my part, am sick of all that author-bashing and won't post my opinion. It's not hard to tell that within the next few days, the thread will have reached well over 200 posts, and in the end, any serious discussion turn out to be futile and impossible.

    QFT.

Sorry to move away from he topic, but I was thinking of the various challenge topics; to the best of the collective's knowledge, were all the members of the Cuy'val Dar commando trainers, or were individuals selected as specialists? (eig. Skirata and Vau for the commando units, Fett trained the ARCs, etc.)

Here's a fun forum I found. It's called the Dented Helmet. Highly detailed Boba/Jango/Mando costumers.

    I wish I was crafty.

As far as we know, everyone of the Cuy'val Dar was a commando trainer... there were 10,000 commandos before the Battle of Geonosis, so each of the training sergeants was taking care of roughly 25 commando squads (100 units). After the first months of the war, half of the Commandos died due to improper utilization by the Jedi... but I doubt that many Cuy'val Dar continued to serve the Republic as the war began... their contract was with Jango, after all.

I tend to check there every now and then. Pretty fancy stuff, sometimes the lads have pretty cool ideas for customization of their Mandos. But except for a little inspiration in terms of visuals, there isn't much useful to be found there if you're looking for Mando resources.

While The Dented Helmet is more focused on the Fetts, the Mandalorian Guild is for custom Mandos only.

Of course. I mentioned it simply for the 'cool' factor. And I really do wish I was crafty. I have an idea for a standard buy'ce that has a full flip-down macrobinocular like the clone commanders have, instead of the classic rangefinder. And a dome-fin. I love the fins. And just to annoy people, a breastplate like General Veer's.

Hmm, actually how's that for a mini-topic? What would your ideal beskar'gam look like? And what awesome little toys? I'd take a gaunlet PEP-laser over a flameprojector.

    Your OC's gotta wear something.

Me too... to have your own beskar'kandosii'gam would kick ass like no other! =P~ [face_mischief]

Well, my dear Gladus Tite, who is rather the guy with the blade, looks like this. Ayden Stone's got a little cowboy'ish look, with good ol' slugthrower and all (see here for a sketch... I've yet to color this). For my other two main OCs, I don't have artworks of their armor, yet (but it will come, I can tell you!). For Ronan Barec, my main OC, I've yet to decide how exactly his armor looks like, but I already know what Altair Jiriad's is like. For that, I'll just post a little quote from one of my fics where his armor is described:

"The tall man's armor looked nothing like the others, and on first view, it was utmost terrifying: it still had the traditional breastplates and gauntlets, but from the shoulders, the elbows, the knees, the forearms and simply everywhere, long, black organic-looking spikes jabbed out?it unpleasantly reminded Fenix of a Yuuzhan Vong warrior's Vonduun-crab-armor, and even the armor plates had the distinctive surface of the Vong-bred creatures' crust.

No, it doesn't remind me of a scarhead's armor, he thought. It kriffing looks exactly like one!

And save for the Mandalorian's head and a few mechanical features, it really did?and with the helmet on, the man had to enrage any Yuuzhan Vong to a level that could simply not be wholesome. The Mandalorian soldier himself didn't quite look inviting, either?he had long, black dreadlocks, a wooly beard, and a tanned face marked by a black, star-like tattoo around his left eye."

I think more doesn't need to be said about that... =P~ [face_whistling]

I created Wookiee-articles for three of them, in the SW-Fanon-Wikia. It's a rather weird thing, but it works great as an index for your OCs... and I just like the style of Wiki articles... [face_whistling]

Corran, I think you should drop into the analysis thread and say a few things now. It's calmed down a bit, and could use some constructive commentary to keep things moving.

    Annoying people is always good.:p

Sounds great, though. I'd love to see what this would look like. [face_peace]

Well, my main OC, Eclan Graven, typically wears a black combat jumpsuit and over that a set of deep blue beskar'gam custom-made for him by a professional armour-smith (he's a young fellow, but very succesful in his field), and which, while following the general pattern of standard Protector-style armour, features several notable differences from it. These include an absence of shin-guards (he prefers to leave that area uncovered so as to carry a few extra tools and/or other oddments in the lower leg- pockets of his jumpsuit) larger, more comprehensively protective cuisses (thigh-plates) strapped to his legs, rather than attached directly onto the jumpsuit as Jango's appear to be, and connected by a hinged attachment to his knee-gards, while his upper arms are protected by rear-braces strapped onto them, and a pair of modular wristguards that can fit a wide variety of weapons for different tasks or missions cover his forearms. His helmet also has a few distinct differences from the typical buy'ce, as he's had the rangefinder/antenna replaced with a less obtrusive multi-purpose laser-rangefinder/floodlight/holocam device attached to the right side of his helmet on level with his visor, and the T-visor itself is hinged to unlock and swing upwards over the crown of the helmet so he can eat or get a little fresh air every now and then without having to remove it.

Eclan Graven is typically armed with a heavily customized BlasTech EL-20 (yes folks, I made that up) carbine, which somewhat resembles Boba Fett's EE-3 by way of the FN FNC assault rifle, Kel-Tec Sub-2000 compact carbine, MK-23 SOCOM handgun and the folding stock of the WWII U.S. Army Airborne-issue M1A1 carbine. He's never without his rocketpack unless circumstances dictate it be abandoned, and two large sub-load utility pouches hang down from his ammunition belt, strapped to either leg, relagating his side-arm (which make of blaster pistol I still haven't decided on) to a holster on the back of his belt. Finally, he sometimes carries an Imperial-issue Scout Trooper's blaster pistol in a boot-holster as a back-up.

My ideal armor would probably be Death Watch style (I just love the helmet design), preferably black with red or silver trim. Maybe skull emblems on the chestplate, or something like that.
I can come back with an basic picrure later...

 Woah, now that is one detailed description! =D= You clearly have a detailed image of him right in front of your eye, but regarding that I have about four or five main OCs and you only one you can give your whole focus, it doesn't surprise me.... [face_whistling]

Sounds interesting. What kind of carbine are you referring to? The kind of WWII Kar98k carbine, or rather the assault rifle M4 carbine? I remember DarthKuk asking me that about Honor Guard, because I had a weapon called EE-23 sniper carbine (guess what, it does resemble the EE-3 a little, as well... great minds think alike, eh?) because in the German sense, by "Karabiner" (carbine) you'd think of high caliber and long-range weapons just like the Kar98k or a Mosin-Nagant carbine, rather than a mid-range, low/mid caliber automatic rifle like the M4.

Speaking of which, would you mind checking this little article about my invention? I'm not the weapons guy, and I bet there are lots of weird things in there^^ :p http://swfanon.wikia.com/wiki/EE-23_Marksman_Carbine

[face_laugh] I got the same problem for Ronan's blaster... I haven't yet decided on that one, either. :p

Mh... I never quite liked the Death Watch helmet, to be honest... [face_whistling]

    Sounds good enough, Mig! :D

Everyone check the first page, please! [face_grin] I added the resources, as well as finally an addition to the index:

    Welcome to my world. lol.

Su'cuy, ner vode! Thanks for the PM, C_F. This is what I get for never going to the FFR page. I don't know how soon I'll write, but the discussion so far had been fascinating. Maybe I'll just review for a bit. lol. I do actually have several fics going presently, but I can't seem to get very far along in most of them. (I believe that's called vignetitis?) My current pet project hasn't really got too much to do with Mandos as much as it does clones, (yes, death and angst yet again. lol) so it may be a while. I've been running on empty since...April I think. *sigh*

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think it's time I changed out of my pajamas...

I can't find the info anywhere, I thought I had heard a figure somewhere, but how many Commandos was each member of the Cuy'val Dar charged with training?
I thought 100, but that seems a bit of an excessive number.

I know, I'm always full of mundane questions...[face_whistling]

You think correctly. ;) Each Cuy'val Dar had 25 squads to train.

No, I suppose not. On the other hand though, you've created some pretty nifty artwork to show what your guys look like, while I have more of a clearly detailed image of Eclan behind my eye, so to speak.;)

Yeah, no, Eclan's weapon fits into the same category of carbine as the M4, being a short, rapid-firing assault rifle with a collapsing stock and slightly shorter range than a full-sized rifle due to its length (shorter barrel = shorter collimating coils = shorter range).

    Looks pretty common-sensical to me.[face_peace]

Yes, the sidearm is always a problem...[face_thinking]

    [face_peace]

*bumps helmets with Roain in a show of solidarity*

    I know the feeling...[face_thinking]

    Indeed.:p

I think you may want to check out my entry for the challenge, though, if I can get it written in time. It's going to involve Mandos, and Jedi, but not in the way that you might think...[face_mischief]

    As you wish, LMFM.:)

Well, at least you're halfway decently recent. (haha decently recent...My Lit teacher would be proud...) I think I've got hmm...three or four in Word that are fermenting or something. My latest problem seems to be that I have a really great middle section (what a friend of mine calls the "info"), but I can't seem to get the "intro" and the "endo." [face_thinking] [face_idea] [face_batting] Anyone??

And what might that be, ner burc'ya? :p

    Looking forward to it. :)

Haven't forgot about the challenge C_F (hope no one else has either), just wanted to wait until after some of those resources you recomended arrived via post before I started.

Question, if I were to use Topic #2 (I may combine....), could I use Jango, Kal, or Vau simply as cameos or secondary characters?
(particularly Jango and Kal - a lot of my OC's story involves potential interaction with the two on Kamino)

They would be fine for cameos, yes. ;)

browwiw: Yes, you probably should... 'till April. ;) Considering you're probably writing about Koyle, the first two topics are already out of question for you, what make your decision rather easy. And since you don't like the NJO, there would be but one topic left: 3. :p

    But I'm a self defeatist!

And the Koyle that I write for fanfic will be slightly different than the one in RPG.

And I shy away from the NJO because I am unfamiliar with it. I have a vague understanding that Vong apparently hard to kill, so some hardcore readers might not appreciate it when Koyle blows a probe-droid sized who in their chests with a SoroSuub Duo Carbine or drag them behind a swoop bike until there's nothing left but a gory chain.
