All London members report in (7/07/2005)

Just managed to get to a computer - luckily I left London early this morning, just before the first attack. Thank you everyone for your messages of support - they mean a lot to us

The bus attack was just outside UCL - my old university. I used to walk down that road, past the BMA building every day on the way to lectures, and to see it splattered in blood today brings the reality of the situation right in my face. What a contrast to yesterday. I have friends that are still stuck in the city - several of them were at Liverpool Street when the attacks happened. Fortunately they're all ok, but had us worried for quite a while.

London, and Londoners are resilient, clearly demonstrated by the calmness that was apparent in the capital today despite the events that unfolded. The terrorists may have achieved their short term objectives of panic and chaos, but have failed in their long term objective of instilling a sense of fear. Instead, our resolve to continue as normal is as strong as ever, and instead of fear we feel rage and indignation. Like Fizzbin mentioned earlier, London's no stranger to attrocities and tragedies, and we will prevail like we always do.

TDV is back after a brief hiatus from the boards. I had a viral infection and was not really in the mood to post.
On the subject of the attacks, it is really most disconcerting to see an attack aimed directly at general public, instead of being aimed at large economic or governmental agents, it must however be stated, that terrorism on any level is an abhorrent tactic and must not be tolerated . I know this seems to be the current pattern of terrorism (attacks directed solely at the general public), but to see this happen in London is somewhat upsetting, although it was an unfortunate inevitability. I am pleased to see the fellow FFLUKers are all safe and well. I would also like to take this opportunity, to pay my respect to those who passed as a result of the attacks.

Me and those I know are all well. Luckily the impact of the attacks seems to be smaller than the similar events in Madrid, but perhaps this will change when more details emerge.

 

I'm here and OK, a few of my friends Dads are up there, I hope they're OK.

Greetings from NW England to all our London colleagues, glad to hear you all seem to be alright. It brought back memories of the bombings during my student days at London University in the 1970s. I only stayed in Russell Square a fortnight ago during my third visit to catch digital ROTS at the Odeon, Leicester Square and Guys and Dolls. Glad to see London is as resilient and defiant as ever.

 

My own thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
