    ...and I find myself wondering how well Quake III will run on a 4 GB, dual Xeon Dell PowerEdge server.

    Hmmm. Technically speaking, Quake will only use one of the processors... and the graphics card on servers usually suck horribly. Trust me, I've tried it! I used be our company's Sr. Systems Engineer, and well, we decided to use Quake II as our product of choice for testing when Y2K hit. Performance actually was lousy. It was still fun to say that we did it though. ;)

    Actually, Quake III is written to take advantage of SMP. And I assume this includes RTCW since it's built on the Quake III engine.

    I'm actually trying to decide whether or not it's feasable to get Quake to work with Microsoft Cluster Services. I mean who doesn't like the idea of fault-tolerant gaming? ;)
