How much of their personal backgrounds do Jedis get to know?
Do they keep their real names given at birth,
or do they get new ones when picked up by the order?
Are they allowed to search for, or even visit
    their real families?
In the EU the Jedi Ki-Adi Mundi has a family
of his own, and travels back to good ol´
    Cerea to meet them.

And besides, it does´nt seem to be a secret that Adi Gallia and Stass Allie are related to each other (cousins i believe).

    And, do they have vacations?

Ki-Adi Mundi had a family because there was a 20:1 female to male ratio, so he was allowed to have five wives. I think the jedi keep their names. And Adi Gallia/ Stass Allie knew their family because they were royalty.

Jedi keep the names that were given to them at birth. Anakin isn't given a new name for instance. :)

    their real families?

We must remember that when Dooku left the Jedi order he regained his title of count from his homeworld. I'd imagine that Jedi would know about their faimliy and it could be quite possible that they'd have some limmited form of interaction, just to quell their curiosity.

As much as either they can remember (which usually isn't much), or what is needed to be known in instances that require it (i.e. if your father was Darth Vader and you had to defeat him ;) :p ).

Aruable idea, although most keep their birth names. Some may not actually have birth names, so they recieve special ones instead. ;)

    No. :(

Like already mentioned, Ki-Adi was permitted to have a family under the extremem circumstances- his race was failing in the ways of natural reproduction (20:1 Male to Female ration), and so restrictions were lifted. ;)

    And, do they have vacations?

Being a Jedi is a 24 x 7 job, but rest assured all of their traveling provides opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment of diverse cultural tradition. :)

Ken Kenobi- And you have a nice day ;)
