I recently bought Jerry Goldsmith's King Solomon's Mines score and, as ashamed as I am to admit it, I love it.

Now I realize that this 1985 Richard Chamberlain film is awful in nearly every sense of the word and that the score is simply Goldsmith aping Williams's superior work for the Indiana Jones films, but I still really like it. It has great memorable themes, exciting action music, and a fun sense of humor (the Nazis' theme is Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" 8-}).

I can't help but love this score, regardless of its obvious inspirations. Oh, and I recently learned that this score won the Razzie award for worst score in 1985. Oh well, I still love it. :D

Anyone else have a score they love from such an awful film that they're afraid to admit it?

I'm not a fan of Goldsmith. Everyone tells me how great he is, but I try his stuff every once in a while and it just never does anything for me.

Have you ever heard Rudy, Mastadge? That's the one Goldsmith score I've not heard one bad word about.

Yes. Now go in the corner and think about what you have done.

Actually, I don't know that and don't really know what Goldsmith has all done. Plus, I tend to mix him up with Goldenthal. Stupid Gold. Ecstasy of Gold is cool. But that was somebody completely different....

King Solomon's Mines score... yep, it's a good one.:)

"Parting Shots" and "Forced Flight" are my fave tracks, I just love the way Goldsmith uses little pieces of Wagner mixed in there.
