For those who attended last year's Maize Maze with the USS Tranquility, Long Acre Farms will be having its first moonlight maze on August 11 & 12. This year's theme is Pirates of the Green Sea. While it is opened August 12th. thru October 29th., below are the dates for the moonlight mazes. It seeemed easier to solve it at night than during the day. And it's another chance to use our lightsabers. Prices are below and there is a group discount of $1 off the price for groups with 20 or more people.

    Aug 11 & 12 - Fri & Sat
    Sept 1 & 2 - Fri & Sat
    Oct 6 & 7 - Fri & Sat
Oct 13 - "Friday the 13th" Maze. Friday ONLY.
Oct 20 - Friday the 20th. Friday ONLY.
    Oct 27 & 28 - Fri & Sat

    $8/adult - ages 12 and up
    $6/child - ages 5-11
FREE - ages 4 and under
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

    It is!

Except for the time we went at night and it was drizzling and all the paths were muddy...

But - other than that it's a pretty neat event. I suppose I could inquire if they'd be interested in a Star Wars day (not that it really fits the Pirate theme - but hey... you never know). [face_thinking]

Friday Oct 13th actually looks like the best day on our calendar (if we choose a moonlit one).

Do folks want to do this?
If so, do you want to go during the day or one of their moonlight maze?

Here is the address for mapquesting purposes:
Long Acre Farms, 1342 Eddy Road, Macedon, NY 14502
From my house it takes 45 mins.

The maze opens at 5pm, but I have a feeling that might be too early for most folks to get out of work and out to Macedon. Can most folks make it there by 6pm or is that still to early?

According to the RARES website, there is a $1 discount per ticket on any size group. However last year, I think they limited it to 4 people per card. Tom and I both have RARES cards from our employers.

Mindy and I went to one of these a few years back. It may even be the same place. You may want to wear boots if it gets damp that night. The slugs tend to come to the surface and make the pathways slimey.

    Just a heads up.

Yea, one of the night ones we've gone to in the past was pretty muddy too. it was interesting to navigate it in the dark, but that was before the FX lightsabers ;-)

If no one has a preference one way or the other, Tom and I were thinking of changing the location of the maize maze from Long Acre Farms to Zarpentine Farms.

I've yet to be to the Zarpentine one so I don't know how it compares, but (for me at least) it would be a closer drive and the maze is a bit more sci-fi themed.

I just read an announcement on their website stating that they'll be closing if it's raining.
So I'll be calling the farm tomorrow afternoon to confirm their status.
