Memph, TN American Cancer Society Walk for Life- Friday, June 24th

Methodist Hospital North has invited us to participate with them in The American Cancer Society's Walk for Life on Friday, June 24th. Their theme: Sending Cancer to the Dark Side. They're trying to get a good group of costumed Star Wars characters to participate from 7:00 pm until midnight. They're asking for a Vader, some Stormtroopers, a Princess Leia, Jedi, or whatever else they can get. I'll be asking the 501st to join us for this event, and will post more details as soon as I have them.

i will just be getting in town from alabama the 24th and I dont know what time I will be here. (takes like 6-7hours to drive). If im in town by 7pm Ill be there.

It was my nurse manager who called me at home to ask about our group because Methodist North (where I work) is using a Star Wars theme for the event.

FYI - Our website has been viewed by quite a few of my co-workers and that lovely bed-head picture of me was the wallpaper on the main computer last weekend.

So now we have a reputation. No pressure, folks!

 

I'll see what my work schedule is like. If I can make it, I will. Hmm...hey, even if I work, I'll be getting off at 8. Would I still be able to come?

as far as i know, i'll be there also.

 

Traci spoke with the event coordinator for Methodist Hospital North today regarding this event. It will take place Brighton High School.

Traci did voice some concern because nothing about the Star Wars thing was being mentioned in the marketing. Of course, they can't use SW in their marketing without infringing on Lucasfilm's territory. She also mentioned that she didn't see a booth for Methodist listed on the layout she saw today.

I've still yet to hear anything from Methodist myself. I contacted Skip regarding the 501st's possible involvement. I haven't heard anything back from him, either.

 

Me, Trish, Jon and Kell will probably be the only 501st personel that you will get for this event. AdventureCon is the weekend before and it's on a Friday so I doubt you will get anyone willing to drive all the way here for a few hours then have to drive all the way home again. But, I've been wrong before.

 

We'll take anything we can get, Chuck. I would like to have a decent turnout.

 

I will try to be there. I just need someone to give me directions. "Wiggle" may be going to stay with the grandparents while Wes recoups from his surgery so I should be able to come out.

 

Rob and I should be able to make it. Count us in.

Did some calculating.. I wont be leaving auburn until at least 12:00 (im guessing later around 2 or 3).. + 6 hour drive home + hour 1/2 drive to the highschool.. I wont make it out there until probably 9:30 or 10:00. If you dont mind having a late stormtrooper, ill try my hardest to get there. I'm itching to get back into some armor.

It's on Hwy 51 in Brighton. It's about 10 minutes north of Millington.

 

I requested off for the 24th due to my doctor's appointment, so I should be available now. Now the only question is...which costume? Ah, I like my new one. I'll wear it. ^_^
