American Graffiti- filmed in San Rafael and Petaluma and depicted as Modesto. As someone who has grown up between these places, I love the film for its roots in my own history and my family's. I have always viewed it as a California film, or one most enjoyed by those living in the state who know the places and that kind of unique culture that George was emulating. I know that you could find cruising elsewhere in America, but George was a valley boy through and through and he told what he knew. So what I am asking is: do Californians (particularly Northern Californians) enjoy American Graffiti more for its deep personal connections? I know I do and I know others who do as well. Any thoughts and feedback are much appreciated! Thanks!
