    Ok, I realise that it's been five years since I posted that I was going to start researching the Return to Naboo, I can tell you that since then nothing has happened. I bought some nice light purple chiffon when I was over for CIV in LA, but then I realised that it wasn't enough to make the veil so I turned it into a ballgown instead.

    Now with a TPM in 3D coming up in the future, and having completely changed the way I'm working on costumes, I've started research again. I am very happy that I have had the chance to see the gown in real life, and taken a lot of ref pics of it.

    Now I live in a part of the world where without any fabric stores, meaning that I need to find my material online. I might have found a source for the velvet, so now I want to start investigate the rest of the fabrics, but I have really no idea what the name of the fabric in the skirt is.

    [image=http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d103/bandykullan/costumes%20exhibit/IMG_0157.jpg]

    It's clearly very textured. Can anyone help me. I'm more after the texture than fibre content.

    Hopefully it wont take me another three years before my next post. (this costume is either 2 or 3 on my least, depending on if I find the fabric)

    Hi !!

    I have being working in a "parade gown" this month and I want that all of you give me your opinion about this...

    http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=204731&id=756693666 this is my facebook album about my WIP of this gown, tell me what you think about it !!

    also, I´m working in a "Mustafar sleeveless outfit" http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=225898&id=756693666 just some hints of the work, next weekend I´ll have all of this dress finished

    what I haven´t think about it, was that I already have one version of one of Padme´s dresses in each episode: Parade Gown-Ep1, Lake Retreat-Ep2 and Mustafar Sleeveless Outfit-Ep3 (and Leia´s Aldderan Princess Dress) XDD and I´m still want to make all of them !! (well.. almost all of them, I don´t have the abilities to make them all.. just not in this moment)

    by the way, I have some new info about some of the dresses, but I don´t know were to put it... well, new for me and some of it I haven't seen it in Padawan´s Guide (SW fan-costuming God) so maybe I´ll put an english section in my Handmaiden Project page (Star Wars costuming and research in spanish web page placed in Mexico, since here we don´t have all of the fabric and thinks that in Joan´s and other fabric stores have, I have devoted the last year to research and star the site to promote SW costuming in mexico)

    http://handmaiden-project.piczo.com/?cr=6# heres my site, still in progress

    tell me what you think about this (my idea of a mexican SW costuming research page and about my costumes... by the way, I don´t know anything about sewing, just do what i research and what my mind tell me to do XD

    In my last post I had problems finding a suitable fabric for the skirt. Well today I've ordered 6 m of this. 6 m is a lot, but I couldn't remember the exact circumference of my hoopskirt, so better safe than sorry. It was a lot cheaper than other fabrics that I had been thinking about, and since it was a remnant I wont be able to order more if I misjudge how much I'll need. It's a bit dark, but it's supposed to be marine.

    Today I've ordered a swatch of a wine coloured silk/rayon velvet and a colour card set to see what other colours are available. A good thing is that if the wine is purple enough it will be cheaper than ordering a custom dye, also the custom dye has a minimum order of 10 meters. I ordered the card set to see their full range of available colours since I'm thinking about ordering the rest of the silks I need from the same source. They can do custom dyes as well, but it's easier if they have the colours I need in stock.

    The fabric swatch arrived and it's too red. I will order a swatch of their purple velvet, but if that one is too blue I have found a really nice swatch that they call "damson purple" that I really like though.

    This is the colour examples that I sent after. The wine velvet turned out to be too red though, you can see the swatch in the bottom.

    I'm thinking about using the damson purple for the velvet, the mid purple for the puffy undersleeves.

    I got a test swatch with purple velvet today, and it's really good, so I'm going to use that for the coat. It also got me so inspired that I've now ordered the fabric that I will need for the underpinnings (chemise, petticoat) except for boning for the corset, I need to sew it up first before I know which lengths I'm going to need.

    I'm making the Ep1 Red Invasion throne room gown. The dress itself I got figured (at least most of it) But the headpiece... That'll be a pain.
    While the book dressing a galaxy says it's made of approximately 25 narrow panels, they're actually 24. That go from 1.5" at the top ending in almost 4.5" at the bottom. When you look at that dress from the front you see 3 orbs (the lighted egg things). When you look the dress from the side, you see 4 orbs. That means one at the center front, one at the center back and 2 on the sides, for a total of 6 orbs. Then, each orb ocupies a space of 2 panels, another 2 panels are left empty between them.
    [image=http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb100/furiafelina/Rebel%20Legion/redinvasionpanelcount24.jpg]

    There is a cord trim between each panel, and this is how it's done:
    [image=http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb100/furiafelina/jb-775-770-fold_jpg_pagespeed_ce_U2aszSzi2T.jpg]
    Also, look here on how to make piping cord: https://www.farthingalescorsetmakingsupplies.com/tips.php?article=24

    These are perfect to hold the shape of the dress:
    [image=http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb100/furiafelina/Rebel%20Legion/KGrHqQOKkIE1qy5kUzMBNgYF4s4Fw0_12.jpg]
    The wires can be adjusted acordingly to decrease or increase, to fit the correct shape.

    An undergarment most be made for this dress, reinforced by the crinoline wires, or it will look like a deflated balloon.

    The skirt bottom fur trim is stuffed.

    Now I'm on trial and error with the sleves, still not sure if they are 15 panels as the book says or 12 panels as my count.
