There maybe one of these already, but I couldn't find one.

So, here's the Admiral Daala fan club!

I like her(No not that way) in the books I've read so far.

I wish she'd pop up in the NJO, but I guess she's just a minor character that just disaperred never to be seen again... [face_plain]

But, for al those who find her interesting...

Come on and mingle here. :D

Sorry dude but I hate Daala. She was a tactical idiot who slept with a shriveled old prune called Tarkin.

    Yeah, Daala sucked.
She lost a Star Destroyer before she even left the Maw....how inept is that? [face_laugh]

Well, I'm not exactly a fan of Daala, but I grew fond of her in a certain sense... And I keep wondering how she would come out if someone else than K.J.Anderson wrote her...

Forget about the Admiral's tactical record. For a moment. Consider her strategic history, her choice of targets--A supply corvette. the Eol Sha resettlement on Dantooine. Calamari. Maw Installation. "Unification" at Tsoss Beacon. The Jedi Academy. Given the isolation of her command, wouldn't you say that perhaps Daala had a good sense of strategy?

Although nothing more than naked piracy, for which an officer of the fleet ought to have no tolerance, the interception of the corvette and interrogation of the Sullustan captain was for information-gathering purposes--they'd been in the dark for quite a while and while a minor victory, the attack yielded plenty of information.

The annihilation of the puny colony of Dantooine may have been less alarming to the NR military than a Ratitan Whisperfly, but to Daala's ground forces, they were badly needed refresher practice, a chance at some live-fire exercise.

Calamari and the decision to attack Coruscant. The Calamari shipyards were a good target. Too bad the probe droid was broadcasting old, old, intelligence. "by the way, they've upgraded their shipyard defenses in the past decade..." Well, with what the admiral had available to her afterwards, sacrificing the Basilisk to cripple Coruscant sounds like a good idea.

And the Maw Installation--what better way to protect its secrets from falling into Rebel hands than to destroy the facility completely?

Daala, unlike certain NJO-era New Republic politicians, recognized right away the importance of the Jedi cadre. Some may mock her for losing such a substantial force, including Knight Hammer, at Yavin IV. But for a non-Jedi, her estimate of the force required to destroy the Jedi is higher than most, and she deserves credit for not underestimating the jedi threat--like so many other imperial and vong commanders.

And I think her second, Commander Kratas, is amazing--a Navy man versatile enough to command a walker assault? And so loyal too! Wow-eee!

Daala makes sure her forces have enough intelligence, she gives all troops--not just Navy crew, but Army too--time in combat, and she knows which strategic targets to attack.

One thing I question, though--her summary execution of the gathered imperial self-styled warlords (Harrsk, Delvardus, Teradoc) at Tsoss Beacon risked further Imperial fragmentation. Daala, repeat after me: I'm a uniter, not a divider!

I say give her a bigger fleet, and charge her with strategy and planning responsibilities. Just keep her away from the conn...

Yeah, Daala's second campaign, backed by Pellaeon, was far better than the first - at least it began well, if though ended badly... After all, it took the biggest Force Push in history to thwart Pellaeon's fleet ;)

And the elimination of warlords at Tsoss Beacon - c'mon, that was an excellent example of statesman's act. It had freed Daala's hands to take command of the warlords' separate armies and unite them for a common purpose :D
