    Hey all,

I am looking specifically for a close match of Anakin's inner and outer tunic fabrics. (Particularly the inner tunic fabric)

    I have two pics:
Both are largeish, so please click on them to enlarge :)

Thanks Danakin. Actually I have a fair amount from C2 and other sources, extreame close ups of the belt, tunics. Nice shoys of the boots and cloak, and then quite a few of the promo shots.

This is a costume I want done perfectly :)

I think the inner tunic looks like natural colored raw silk that's been washed in a washing machine and dried a few times to rough it up.

    Hi,
For the fabric at the top, the super Walmart near me (of all places) has very similar fabric to that. I am not sure if the tone is exact, but you should check it out. I was searching for yoda robe material when I saw that one.
    :)

Dave, I have my connection on that ;) I can go sans robe if need be :)

Thanks Jayne....does it have a weave like that? To me it seems REALLY loose, as if it was designed that way...

ecila, the WalMarts in Canada are a tad differnt, but I will check it out :) thanks

    Any other opinons?

It's rather loose, but the important part (IMO) is that if you get natural colored silk, it has those darker parts running through it and it will pill with little 'bumps' like that one. I wouldn't go too much looser than raw silk or it won't hold up through too many washings, and I'd imagine the undershirt is the most important part to wash regularly.

The overtunic looks to me like a gabardine-like wool. I'll pm you a link to something I think matches on fashion fabrics club (not sure if that's an ok link to post).

Jayne, if it's just an online fabric store, then linking to it is fine. ;)

    Update:

Looking at heavy weight linen for the tunics. Just have to get a swatch and double check up close.

    Thoughts?

The inner robe looks like a loose woven linen/cotton weave, or a looser version of what they used on the orginal costumes, the "indian home spun". If you wanted to get critical, you could do thread picking on a full peice of loose woven linen to give it that look. :)

The second fabric looks like a nubby tight woven cotton. I've seen that before at Joann's Fabric. It's usually used for lighter coats, etc.

I agree. Obviously the inner tunic is a very loosely woven fabric.

The outer tunic could be linen. The photo of the fabric in the most recent post by Primrodo would only be suitable for the outer tunic.

This is Onaburg and isn't really quite a loose enough weave

See what you think of this Silk Gauze

    Thanks guys.

Yes heavy weight just for the outer tunic, tabards and obi.

Check out this online album I have too:

    Clickie

Just so you can see the costume in different lights and conditions.

That Onasburg looks great Kai, so does the silk. I will get swatches of both. In some pics like:

    [image=http://www.petridish.net/pics/12352/C2Upper.jpg]

    Doesn't look so loose.

Thanks for the help, and please, any more help would just be wonderful!!

    :)

Ooh I'll beat Justin to the reply!

We be Canadians, eh? And with all the Tim Hortons donut stores around here, we don't have any room for Joann's.

Well we have the room, but the franchise isn't on this side of the border.
