Obi-Wan would've stood no chance against Sidious. Let's tally how he did against all the Sith Lords.

Against Darth Maul- Almost died had he not calmed himself down and Maul not been so cocky to not reach down and tap him with his lightsaber.

Against Dooku Part I- Got owned.

Against Dooku Part II- Got owned.

Against Anakin/Darth Vader- Only won because he was fighting his former pupil, thus he knew how to block all of Anakin's attacks. He also took advantage of Anakin's burning ego and pride to defeat him.

Palpatine would've killed Obi-Wan. Poor guy wouldn't last a minute.

He definitely wouldn't have lasted very long against Palpatine, not as long as Yoda did at least. He's unstoppable by anyone without the force but his record against other force-sensitive duellists is pretty terrible as DARTHLINK summarises. He beat Anakin by knowing his weaknesses and by reaching the high ground where he had the advantage - if he pulled the same stunt against Sidious, Sidious would simply fry him or choke him, enough to force him back rather than being proud/angry/stupid enough to try and flip over his head. He'd have put up a fight but I really can't see him standing a chance when Mace and Yoda both struggled - and I would have backed both of them against Anakin (in his Mustaphar mindset anyway) too.

There is no reason for Anakin not being able to do this, or at least continue the duel, instead we're supposed to believe Obi Wan has 110% chance of defeating Anakin just for being there

That actually would have been a really epic ending. TOO BAD THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY HAPPENED THOUGH, RIGHT? Ugh I hate it.

So, if Obi-Wan didn't win, Anakin would have won? Sure, by process of elimination.

I mean, if Obi-Wan missed, the duel would have continued and one or the other would have won. It's hard to say, but given that Obi-Wan did win the duel, it's likely that he still would have since he did. Anakin really had no excuses for losing that one.

Obi-Wan is THE best defensive fighter in the business - he's basically Mayweather Junior, with a lightsaber. On a level ground, all of Anakin's best attacks and anger couldn't land a solid blow, for him to somehow manage one whilst having to fight uphill with scorching hot lava all around (which Obi-Wan no longer has to contend with) stretches credulity (it looks REALLY silly in that cinematic that Obi-Wan fluffs his attack like that.) It's not a game-clincher just because Obi-Wan 'has the high ground' it's decisive because Obi-Wan has the high ground. He's attacked successfully from weaker positions - but that just means he knows exactly what not to do. Anakin knows he's screwed if he doesn't get back on the higher ground or at the very least level footing but it's his pride that makes him choose to go straight over Obi-Wan's head - or try to. From Obi-Wan's expression and tone of voice he's pretty much made clear he's going to end it, one way or the other.

Don't compare Obi-Wan and Floyd Mayweather. Floyd isn't worthy.
