I find Anakin's mechanical hand really creepy. *is happy he has both hands in her Anakin poster.* Just the way it moves is just annerving. Even as a cartoon!

I like the hand. Although I find it difficult to believe that while the Republic Establishment could only give Anakin a golden, droid-like mechanical arm, the Rebels gave Luke a life-like mechanical hand only 20 years or so later.

Perhaps the Jedi Council wouldn't allow Anakin the vanity of a life-like hand :p Or maybe it's supposed to be a stop-gap thing until it's quieter and he can get a proper one done.

Like when a glazier boards up a window until he can replace it. Only in this case, the whole house is going to get it's windows put in before the glazier can come back ;)

    It's both.

I agree. Just like Anakin, just like Vader.

Whenever he has a glove on, it looks like his hand has flesh on it, not so skinny & machine like. In the film, it doesn't look like his hand is that strong. Didn't look like it could do much.

I find his hand awesome! And the glove over it is pretty tight, but hey Padme doesn't mind. :p
At least he can function now...

Though would it have really mattered if he's have become 'the stumpy one'? he can use a sabre in his left hand better than most can with both their limbs.

Then again i guess when youve gotta fight Sith you really do need two limbs :)

I wonder if a character can do a force push if they only have one hand and the other one is busy holding a lightsaber...

There is a comic book based on the Clone Wars cartoon coming out and the arm seems to be cut off below the elbow. I recall this from the preview art of the cover.

May be it's an artist interpretation of it but it supports the point that it is not necesarily consistent with the films.

    I think it's creepy.

But also very symbolic. Anakin is losing his humanity, piece by piece.

I think it's safe to say that the below the elbow thing is part of the cartoon as well.

You all saw episode 18, right? :)

Maybe the Jedi council makes him wear the less attractive hand to make him remember what happens when you rush into things.

Ironic, because in another argument I'm arguing with people who complain about how much better the technology seems to be in the PT than the OT and who would like the tech level toned down a bit for the PT.

But the tech-level's supposed to be higher in the PT

It's the Empire's rule that's restricted the development and spread of technology, effectively making technical evolution go backwards. Uncle George said that on the Ep1 Commentary, and I don't care who you are, you can't argue with Uncle George.

...even if he does say 'laser-swords' and frequently mis-pronounce the names of his own characters :p

The cartoon arm doesn't bother me, but the hand-holding at the end of AOTC was a bit disturbing.

To me, neither. It's just a matter of being able to function.

Do people with prosthetic legs scare you? And why? They have had a great misfortune. They deserve compassion.

    *sigh*

The guy never said that. He was commenting on Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars movies alone. Please don't put words in his mouth. :)

    Be nice.

The really creepy thing would be him holding baby Luke with his mechanic hand... although for all we know, that must have never happened...
