Anakin simply never got the long-term portion of duelling down-he's all too much here and now, as opposed to thinking as to what he wants to happen next. Really, what's to stop him from gaining the bank before Kenobi did? Really nothing, and then he'd have had a massive tactical advantage. He clearly didn't realize that, Kenobi did, and the rest is history.
