Anakin's/Vader's age through the saga

How old is Anakin/Darth Vader through the events of ANH,ESB and ROTJ? I understand that he is 23 (I think, but not too sure) in ROTS, but how long is the time gap between ROTS and ANH, then how many years pass between ANH,ESB and ROTJ?

Actually, according to the AOTC novel, Anakin had just turned 20 prior to the movie.

Also, only about 6 months passed between ESB and ROTJ, so depending on the exact date, Vader could still be the same age as he was in ESB. This could also be applied (although less likely than ESB/ROTJ) to the other OT movies and Episode 3.

AOTC 20
ROTS 22-23

ANH 41-42
ESB 44-45
ROTJ 45-46

I put both of the ROTJ ages in bold because IMO, with the way things seem to work out in the GFFA, It was probably Anakin's birthday during the second half of ROTJ.

 

Yes, Anakin had just recently turned 20 by the time AOTC begins.

However, I've always heard it's one year in the timeline between ESB and ROTJ.

I argee with Damon, his example is consistent with what I've have heard about Anakin age.

 

I checked around and yes, it was a year between ESB and ROTJ. I guess I thought it was 6 months because the end of Shadows of the Empire (which takes place 6 months after ESB) had Luke recording the hologram and sending the droids to Jabba.

 

Good point. I guess either the book loosely covers that time, or the final scenes are a 'flash forward' of a few months.

 

TPM - 30 years before ANH (Anakin is 9, Padme is 15)
AOTC - 20 years before ANH (Anakin is 19, Padme is 25)
ROTS 18 years before ANH (Anakin is 21, Padme is 27)

ANH (Anakin/Vader is 39)

TESB - 3 years after ANH (Anakin/Vader is 42)
ROTJ - 1 year after ANH (Anakin/Vader is 43)

TPM - 32 years before ANH (Anakin is 9, Padme is 15)
AOTC - 22 years before ANH (Anakin is 19, Padme is 25)
ROTS 19 years before ANH (Anakin is 22, Padme is 28)

ANH (Anakin/Vader is 41)

TESB - 3 years after ANH (Anakin/Vader is 44)
ROTJ - 1 year after ANH (Anakin/Vader is 45)

 

Padmé was 14 in TPM.

 

I put him about 45-48 years old

 

He is in his forties, although he looks much older due to injuries and wearing the suit for over 20 years.
