Well based off Andy Serkis's track record I see him playing some CGI character with surprising emotional depth who will probably end up stealing the show and all of 2016 will be spent arguing about how the Academy continues to ignore Serkis's motion-capture talent.

Thats just based off the past. Who knows what could happen ;)

He is most likely going to play something humanoid because the point of having him do a mocap character would be to capture his facial expressions and little nuances. I know they said they'd dial back the effects too, but I don't think that would mean excluding CG characters. Especially if Serkis does one. He brings a lot more life to one, which would probably be the whole reason they'd want him if they were going to do any kind of main character in full CG.

Shouldn't they be older than Luke & Leia?? Wouldn't that put them closer to Han's age?

Edit: My post is in regards to Zeb & Kanaan, not the others, as I think Zeb & Kanaan would end up being the characters from the show, in the film

In the case of Kanan he would be in his late 60s or 70s I guess. I think it would be kinda lame for another Jedi to be around through the OT. Zeb is an alien so who the hell knows? He can be 70 or 700 and we wouldn't know the difference.

    You know the old saying:

Perform a mo-cap character for JJ, and he can film for a day. Teach JJ how to mo-cap direct, and he can film weird characters for life

any site that lists John Morton, the actor who played Dak, a bit part piece of cannon fodder, as a "star of The Empire Strikes Back" loses a lot in the credibility stakes....

and why would he be in the know on things?...i don't get why so many sites are running with these quotes from him...he would be absolutely nowhere near the production...

Ah, yes. How could I forget? Reminds me of the other old saying:

I'm thinking whatever role this ends up being, is the same role Gary Oldman and Hugo Weaving went in for.

    New article about Andy Serkis:

"Andy Serkis says he is 'extremely excited' about his upcoming performance in Star Wars: Episode VII. The actor, best known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings franchise, says he "can't quite believe" he has a role in the film. 'It's a wonderful, wonderful cast, really beautiful director, great atmosphere... Star Wars was my childhood, so it's fantastic,' he said.
The 50-year-old also said security around the script is 'very tight.' He added: 'You can't wander off with it.' "

Is anybody else worried that he only called the script wonderful? Shouldn't it be incredible?

Not really. He worked on LOTR, which made his career, so that's a pretty high bar to meet when it comes to overly lavish praise.

Whoever he's playing, I'm sure it will be a CGI character and I'm sure it will be friging fantastic. I'm hoping for a villain, but it could be a sidekick too.

Yes, I'm quite disappointed that he didn't call it the greatest piece of work in cinema history. The script must suck.

I wouldn't be surprised if Horn is headed over to Pinewood next week to pull the plug on the whole production.
