The MSW description has always reminded me of a cross between the members of the Pyke syndicate and the Black Sun.

Snoke is played by a mo cap Andy Serkis and Sarco is played by another live action Actor. They are two different characters.

Quite. The name Sarco Plank and the fact that he is clearly played by an extra in a suit on set and not by Andy Serkis in a mo-cap suit should be the first clue.

Has anyone already read Weapon of a Jedi? If Aftermath is out there, maybe WOAJ is too?

Someone posted a picture of the book is his hand in what looks to be a book store. Usually books are released on a Tuesday and since the The Journey To The Force Awakens in on Friday, some retailers might have gotten confused. I picked up my copy of Aftermath at Walmart last Saturday. If you go look you can probably go pick it up today.

Have not heard that it's out yet.

I agree with some previous posters that Sarco and Snoke are two different characters. But it's obvious that Luke's foe from the book looks the same as Sarco. But it seems that Sarco doesn't have a very big role in TFA. So why is such a character - or someone who looks like Sarco - the opponent in the book?

If it's not Sarco, it could be a Knight of Ren!

I wonder if the intent was to feature tertiary characters from TFA across the Journey books? We have PZ-4C0 in the Leia book, and Sarco and Jessica Pava in the Luke book. I wonder who we'll get in the Han book?

    That's of course possible.

Or maybe the character on the back who looks like Sarco is not the opponent and it's some sort of red herring.

Man, the marketing machine is in full gear if they are already selling books about what happens at Walmart on the Saturday after September 4th....

I wonder if the face plates/scales open like a Venetian blind, exposing what's underneath. Kinda reminds me of an armadillidium vulgare (pill bug).

Sheev loved his work, however. If we could all be as happy with what we did as he was, we'd be lucky...until our top lackey throws us down a bottomless pit to a brutal death, that is.

Maybe Sarco Plank is an alias of Snoke in a different outfit. An extra may have played Sarco, only because the face is not exposed. If the organic, chitinous plates can expose what's underneath, and Sarco does not expose the face underneath, there would be no need for Andy to play Sarco. The plates could be part of the organism, or they could be part of the mask.

    From Reddit:

[SPOIL] In Aftermath, a former advisor to Palpatine has some interesting Dark Side/Sith insight. He explicitly states to an Imperial council that there are no more Sith in the Galaxy. Additionally he tells a Legends character on p. 179 "Did you know that the Sith Lords could sometimes drain the Force energy from their captives? Siphoning life from them and using it to strengthen their connection to the dark side? Extending their own lives, as well, so that they could live for centuries beyond their intended expiration?" Cool stuff. [/SPOIL]

Could that be a hint about Snoke...

It's getting worse around here, check out the New Canon thread. An unnamed Imperial Admiral can't NOT be Thrawn. You'd think that the new novels will end up falling under the moniker "Star Wars: Non-Canon Fan Service".

No way! Why would you even say that?! He Has To Be Somebody only 1% of audience will be like "I knew it!!!!!" Or "Man! I wasn't expecting it to be him!" Because Disney cares so much about hardcore Star Wars fans.

    Makes sense.

He is in the release of the action figures while there was no "Supreme Leader Snoke" figure.
