Saga ANH or TFA

I am a devout fan of ANH, not only is it the beginning of the saga but a great standalone film. However, I prefer the style of TFA. It has a darker tone and I feel like the leads have better chemistry in this one.

Luke, Han and Leia's chemistry improves in the other two original films though.

 

Whoa people actually exist who like TFA better than ANH?? Wow.

 

I prefer SW 1977 to ANH, myself.

What's there not to get? It's my opinion, which I explained the reasoning behind in my post.

 

Well ultimately TFA was in many ways a rehash of ANH.

- Orphan protagonist from desert planet
- Escape scene shooting from the turret of the Millenium Falcon
- Planet-killing machine
- Mentor allows themselves to be killed by bad guys lightsaber
...and that's just a few. ANH broke through and created the SW culture, it's rare that a rehash of an old film is considered "better."

From a film-making perspective, TFA doesn't work at all as a standalone film. It leaves way too many plot holes and doesn't really pursue any character development whatsoever outside of Finn.

..but to each their own! I'm sure there are also people who think the Power Rangers movie was better than the original series.
