We don't have squirrels in Australia.

    Would you like some?

    Amazing.

What's not to get? Show people from other parts of the world the wildlife that inhabits your yard.

Rats are found all over the world and live in squallor. Squirrels are not found everywhere and live in trees, hense the fascination. And they have such lovely bushy-wooshy tails.

I'll trade my squirrels for a kangaroo or two. They're hella cooler.

jp-30, you're a braver man than I, there's no way you'd get me picking up a spider that sze.

Here's a pic of a Bolas Spider I found out the back yard a while ago. I was trimming back a tree and found it hiding under some leaves it had tied together with web. Unfortunately it was eaten by a Currawong (bird) not long after this was taken.

They have the second coolest way of catching it's prey. The basically lasso moths that fly past. It's bizarre to watch.

I'm currently going through my pics to find wildlife in the backyard type photos.

    Squirrels = cute.

here's a rabbit that was in my front yard.. i realize how un-uncommon that may seem, but let me assure you, that was no ordinary rabbit.. it was the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! that rabbit had a vicious streak a mile wide! it's a killer!

we just don't see many rabbits in town..

You should visit a zoo one of these days.

In the past two weeks I've had two toads, two rabbits, two foxes, a deer, a praying mantis, Mormon crickets, a chipmunk, lots of butterflies, and a couple lacewings. Didn't have my camera ready for any of them, unfortunately. I wish we had more toads -- I'm rather fond of them. A shot from two summers ago:

There is nothing wrong with rats. I had a pet rat once. It had tremendous amounts of Cute.

Here are the raccoons eating my cats' food. It was dark and the flash wasn't working, so I had to play with brightness and contrast on my own, hence the imperfection of the pic, so sorry about that:

I live in an apartment complex.. I don't really have a yard. If I did, all I would have is a couple of cats and dogs and the occasional squirrel.

And the illegal immigrant landscapers, of course.

Last month, a mama duck layed her eggs in the small pool pump enclosure in our back yard. A raccoon ate them, one by one, over a period of five days. :_|

Hey, Mastadge, that's cool - but any chance you can resize the image down to say 500pixels wide & re-upload it? It's huge.

Here's a small skink I caught while tidying up an old brick pile in the corner of the garden yesterday. Certainly not as impressive as the Australian lizards.

Not my yard, but my neighborhood. It's good to know people with some talent!

The peregrine in the front is one of the adults and the other is one of the kids wanting his breakfast.
