Here we are, the third installment of the Animated Draft. You're back, I'm back, we're all back. So what that you forgot about classic 90's powerhouses from Tenchi Muyo and Slayers last draft? They're gone. So what that Alucard and Aizen ran amok through your conferences last draft? They're gone. You've got a hunger to visit veoh and youtube, you've got a list of mechs a mile long, and you've read every chapter of each Shounen Jump title just to be ready for this draft. You aren't going to let anything slip by you. If there's a wall, you'll tear it down with your own hands, if there's no road, you'll pave it yourself. This animated draft, you'll show the world the power of a GM. You'll surpass the impossible and kick reason to the curb!

Welcome to the third Animated Draft.

Speaking of Nono, You can check out her dominance in the first draft. Tokimi and Tsunami, see them in the second draft.

    Animated Draft Hall of Fame

Do you have what it takes to pierce the heavens and join the Hall of Fame?

For those of you familiar with the Draft Game, feel free to skip reading the rest of this post, and just sign up. For those of you unfamiliar, we'll provide a quick synopsis of how to participate and all that jazz.

    The Participants

There are three types of participants in this draft: The Commissioner, The Judges, and the GMs.

The Commish: That's me! It's my job to make sure the draft runs smoothly. I take care of the draft list, randomize the draft order, call the matches, and keep track of the winners. I also have an open PM box for questions, complaints, and bad jokes. Also bribes.

The Judges: There are four of these, including the commish as a reserve. It's their job to decide who wins the matches. They (sometimes) listen to arguments from GMs, and (sometimes) provide breakdowns on their reactions to picks during the drafting process. Also to take bribes.

The GMs: That's you. There are 16 of these. It's their job to assemble a good team(or bad, it's up to you). It's also their job to send in numbers (which we'll talk about in a bit), and to "pimp" their team in the eyes of the judges.

    Assembling a Team

The bulk of the job of a GM, and the bulk of this game, is assembling the teams. This is done, mainly, through a drafting process. Once sign-ups are finished, a draft order will be published. When it is a GM's turn to pick, they should post in this thread the character they wish to select for their team. Be warned, however, that you only have 24-hours to select a character, so it is often a good idea to send a PM to the commish with a selection or two that you would like to make if your turn to pick is coming up soon and you might not be on. If your time expires, you will be "bumped" to the end of the round. If you are bumped twice during the process, you can be removed from the game.

The draft order is reversed at the end of each round. So, if it begins this way:

    Team A
    Team B
    Team C
    Team D

Then the next round, it will go

    Team D
    Team C
    Team B
    Team A

And, we do that for fourteen rounds.

The other ways to fill rosters for teams is through free agency and trades. Free agency occurs only in periods specified by the commish. During these times, you post in the thread a player you are dropping from your team, and a player you are dropping from the available list. To complete a trade, two GMs must agree to the deal, and then both must PM the commish for approval. If the trade is approved, the Commish will post so in the thread. Trades must be x-for-x character in terms of draft picks and characters (i.e. no 3-for-2 trades or anything of the like are allowed, also, there must be at least one character being traded. You may trade a character for a draft pick, for example, but you may not trade a draft pick for ano

Ah, I knew I changed it for my D&D character, who is based on a mashup of Kamina and Simon, but I didn't look it up when I wrote the mock up for the opening post. I'll see about fixing it later.

EDIT: Actually, my way is acceptable. So, never mind. MAHQ even has it as "Go beyond the possible and kick reason to the curb!"

Ooh yeah, so before this gets underway, maybe we should lay down a set of rules that shows exactly what you get with and without prep (as accurately as possible) that we can reference so all judges and GMs are on the same page when judging/drafting?

    Perhaps something like...

    1. Access to all knowledge that a COMBATANT* of reasonable intellect WITHOUT intimate knowledge of the opponent would have.

    2. Access to audio/video/written battles that would be public knowledge of this same parameter.

    3. NO PREPPING THE BATTLEFIELD

    4. In all matches (not just prepped) opponents begin ten yards away from each other, with their backs turned. Battle begins after a 3 second countdown (helps to avoid the insta-shot for prep matches and is still close enough for meleee guys).

    5. Preps have access to available resources in their own lairs. They do/do not have access to items they might buy at a NORMAL store.

    6. Preps with time abilities have access to only what has been shown to be in their lair at any time period, NOT anything outside of that lair. They also cannot go view the match and adjust accordingly, as that creates seperate time continuities and all that.

    7. Characters cannot stop time unless in their powerset is some reasonable wear-off clause.

    8. Nothing infinite allowed (Infinite time stoppage, infinite duplicates, etc.).

    9. If a prep has someone on the team intimately familiar with the opponent, they are allowed that information.

And a question... Do preps have the 24 hours to study the opponent AND do what they have to do, or is it study first, then the full 24 to make plans? I vote study first, as that would take more than 24 anyway. That's what I've been judging by.

*A combatant would have more info than a normal person in many circumstances. For instance, most combatants would probably know of Orion's weakness to radon. Random people probably wouldn't even know Orion from Kalibak. A combatant would also know what different types of mechs do and have at least a general overview of how they work, unlike a normal person. To make sure of that (if we do want the detailed mech knowledge) we could expand the "combatant" definition to include other persons of knowledge such as technitions, experts, etc. But I think the guy who made the mech or gave someone powers (such as the creator of Wing Zero or something) would count as intimate knowledge. But still, most of the Wing Zero's stuff is well-known anyway but if there was something only he and his 4 people knew, the prepped guy would not have access to that info.

    How's that sound?

Well, gee whiz. Who to pick, who to pick...

Guess I gotta go with the one that I least expect to get back around to me. Guy always seems to go in the first round (whether he deserves it or not), so why buck the trend?

    Itachi Uchiha

Still loathe the sharingan as much as ever, but ever since Itachi's big reveal, the guy has jumped up about two hundred notches on my respect-o-meter. As a character, that is. Might even be my second favortite dude from the show now.

But yeah, maybe even as many as three others from the same series that can beat him, but in terms of overall draft usefulness, genjutsu is pretty much tops. And no better known genjutsu user than Itachi. Oh, and I think that reveal also effectively put to bed any notion that his little bro is better than him... yet.
