animating problem

    hi. I want to ask you if you could tell me how to animate tentacles, like the ones the setinel had in the matrix trilogy or doc. ok. in spiderman 2...
    any info would be very helpful

    Depends, if you want to be able to control it, use some sort of ik, in Maya you can use either splines or multichain solvers. Otherwise you could use some type of soft body dynamics.

    I'm using 3ds max.
    I'm trying with bones but it doesn't work..

    Bones should work fine.

    maybe use more bones... not just one (if that is what you are doing)

    i dont really know, but i think if you had plenty (say 10o) bones, then it should look decent...

    I'm was uging version 4 but now I'm trying with the 6th. Yeah, bones works but it looks horrible.
    I need a smooth move like the robotic ones the sentineels had, and for that I think I need too much bones.
    Haven't you got any other ideea, I'm thinking on it...

    Exactly what kind of animation do you need? Are you trying to get specific motion or just have the tentacles flail around randomly?

    Exactly, the level of detail is the uestion. You could just use a ripple effect if all you want is them moving being the object. If you want the thing to land and walk around, that's a whole different animal.
