EPVII announcements? Anyone? KK? JJ? Disney? LFL? C'mon man!!!
A comparison of announcements between Episode one, and Seven, eighteen months before filming starts, what we knew then, and now.
Frank Marshall just teased new exciting news on Twitter. Could just be Jurassic World, but he is married to KK...
Could be interesting.
That was interesting to read. Makes me even more sad about the lack of info on ep7.
But to be fair Episode I was slated for a 98 release.
I doubt Frank is going to say anything SW related. Regardless that he's married to KK. It is most likely Jurassic World.
Probably just JW news.
A year after the Special Editions? No. It was always 99, two years later.
Lucasfilm needed the home video/laserdisc sales from the Special Editions in 1998 to help pay for the Episode I marketing in late 98 into 99.
To play a little devil's advocate here. Although I think Marshall news is JW related. We are just 2 hours on the East Coast from Oct 1. The month we got the sell to Disney.
No, it was originally 1998, I have the issue of Star Wars Galaxy that confirms it. The only Special Edition we were supposed to get was ANH in early 97 and then Episode I was supposed to hit theaters in 98.
Star Wars Galaxy was not an official Lucasfilm publication. It was published by Topps as part of a way to promote their Star Wars collector cards. That's why they even renamed the magazine to Star Wars Collector in 1997.
It was always the intention to do all three movies as Special Editions. That's why the trailer for A New Hope advertised all three movies:
The way Lucasfilm worked prior to the Disney purchase was that they would do a big theatrical re-release, such as the three Special Editions, and use the revenue from those and the merchandise to fund their new projects. That's how Lucas was able to pay for all three Prequels out of his pocket. Without a full trilogy SE release and the subsequent home video release (and toys) this wouldn't work.
The ridiculous Episode 1 rumors make me feel better about the ridiculous Episode 7 rumors.
I find all this quite interesting, but the cover says it the 'Official Lucasfilm Magazine'. I really don't think LFL would let that fly if is wasn't the Official magazine.
Official Announcement " conformation " Saoirse Ronan " has read for a role in EP7................
Let's hope for the best.
Ah, come on. And I hoped something really happened. What was I thinking?
Regarding that info about the "Darth Vader themed" TV specials, since they are slated for spring/summer I believe that they really are the missing Clone Wars arcs leading us post ROTS and therefore being "Vader themed". They could be presented as mini TV movies avoiding the TCW brand and setting up Rebels...
Yeah, at the beginning....only ANH was supposed to get the SE treatment. But Lucas had so much fun during the whole process, he then decided to give a facelift to ESB and ROTJ.
I love the Episode One rumor about Charlton Heston playing Yoda.
Sir Alec Guinness is narrating the Prequels.
Get your filth hands off me you damn dirty Sith!
Yeah, I vaguely remember reading the '98 release date in the newspaper or in some magazine, and was pissed that it was pushed back a year.
