Clearly you need to visualize a new proactive paradigm wherein you disrupt the language space.

I know you posted this months ago, but in my book it's never too late to be pedantic.

So, technically speaking, the phrases "any one" and "every one" do exist. But they are grammatically distinct from the more common words "anyone" and "everyone".

"Any one" means, "Any single specific individual."

"Anyone" means "Any individual in general."

"Every one" means "Each and every individual."

    "Everyone" means "An entire group."

So as a matter of fact, there is a space-free equivalent to "no one". It's "none."

Examples of how these parallel each other:

    - Everyone can go through there.

    - Anyone can go through there.

    - None can go through there.

It's just that this use of "none" is a bit antiquated in English. But it does exist. It's more commonly used in other languages, though.

    Versus:

    - I'd like to thank every one who helped me.

    - I'd like to thank any one who helped me.

    - I'd like to thank no one who helped me.

They're different. Because the spaces turn them from general or collective nouns into an adjective describing a specific noun, "one."

Using the word 'so' to prefix the answer to a question. Seems to have become ubiquitous over the last year or two and it really rustles my jimmies.

Can you explain why people in your country refuse to use adverbs? Idiocy, or laziness?

I'd hazard a guess at both at a 4/1 ratio.

People saying "Look,..." at the beginning of a response. Means they don't have an argument and can't abide or understand anyone not just accepting their position as the natural one.

    "Palpy" rather than Palpatine. [face_shame_on_you]

    "Obi" rather than Obi-Wan [face_shame_on_you]

    OT for a moment.

    Language I like:

Picture or Motion Picture rather than Movie (still love my old paperback of Jaws with "Now a major motion picture" on the cover)

OT always instantly means Original Trilogy when I hear it but then the secondary thought connection is "overtime" but not a fan of employment related overtime to be called OT.

I would immediately recognise "OT" being used as a noun without the definite article to mean overtime.

Using "OT" as a quasi preposition/adjective would indicate that it means off topic. [IMG]

OT is usually preceded by the definite article when referring to the CT. :D

    "Behaviours" plural.

    I don't care if it's a word.
