I have friends in high places.

One thing I noticed about the set, though it may have been my own misconception, is that the original one had randomly placed dark panels, like you've done here, whereas the re-created set had them much more regularly placed, more balanced at each part of the corridor and mirroring what was on the opposite side.

Also, the black panels should be sunken in slightly.

    Hi again,

Yeah the panels are sunken in already, its just the lighting setup is not showing this too well, so altered the lighting here in this render to show the sunken dark panels off better :)

Ah! Excellent :) When you have the red lighty bits in, I'm sure that will be even clearer.

    As you were.

What's the link over there at SCIFI-MESHES for Mike's version? It might be on SF3D's WIP? I'll let him know about your thread. I'm sure he'd offer some good advice.

    Thanks matey,

Got a full workload with R2 and the corridor at the moment ;) but would love to have a crack at something like Maul so might do further down the line.

Well not had a chance this week to do anything on the corridor and got to tile a bathroom this weekend (houses ppfft.. constant work), but hopefully will get a chance to work on stuff and pop an update later in the weekend :)

    Cheers,

They are indeed and actually are in my version, just messing with the lighting and tinting, its prob going to take a lot of tweaking and messing to get that right :)

However having said that, if you look closely at any ref images of the corridor there is a very slight tint of blue, guess i over did it ;)

Ok a quick update, just playin with the black panel lights, at the moment they are just sitting on the back piece of the panel but from what I can tell from the reference I have is that they are actually slightly embedded (?)...

So once I got the look right will work to do that :)

    http://img226.imageshack.us/my.php?image=blockaderunnercorridorv45id.jpg

And of course will do the differing patterns on the panels and will try (from the ref I got) to get the patterns as accurate as possible (don't suppose anybody out there has shots of each panel light setup from the original set? ;) hehe.)

Ah well... didn't think so :p

    :)

I think, though I can't recall exactly, that the light panels are clear perspex with a black backing, which has certain parts revealed for the red lights. That would probably give that slight embedded look you may be seeing.

Cool thanks, that helped a great deal :)

Ok a new render with the lights embedded and I also worked on trying to get the blur and random areas that are slightly brighter in the red back lighting, which you see as the action moves through the corridors (EPIV).

    http://img4.imageshack.us/my.php?image=blockaderunnercorridorv40qs.jpg

Let me know what ya thinks :)

going to start detailing all the black back panels and then back onto the main corridor decoration and then finally the corridors leading off through the side doors (tryin to track down reference on this, prob a shot in the dark this but if anyone out there has a floor plan of the extending corridors that would help a great deal :)).

    Cheers,

    Wiz.

    How do :)

Well thought I would go back to R2 and do some work on him as its been a while since I last visited me little friend (and that's what this thread started about :)).

Messed with his dome materials, and also been playing with the lighting. Been studying Mike's R2 over on sci-fi meshes :) awesome job!!! Learning so much from his (many thanks for sharing your knowledge!)

So have a gander, sorry the updates are few and far between, will try and get some more done tomorrow (but at a Xmas party tonight so not promising out as my head might be under a bag of ice tomorrow hehe).

    http://img203.imageshack.us/my.php?image=r2head1il.jpg

Hints, tips, feedback, etc. etc. very welcome and encouraged ;)

Also here is the full R2 but ignore the body for now as I am only just starting to revisit this...

    Thanks matey, much apprecited :)

Well I am hoping I get both R2 and the corridor finished over the Christmas break (in between drunken hazes and hangovers etc.) and then will post em up and you guys are more than welcome to grab and use! :)

So heres a very brief update, played with the dome material and altered a few other minor things, going to redo the dome material tho get some scratches/dents and a bit more dirt in there (same for the body).

    Anyways, heres ya go :)

Awesome work! I love it! Especially the textures.

The only thing is not alot of people have a .rar extractor.

I also like that you used the sounds to ANH <~~(I think)

I think the model and the animation is great! The only thing wrong with that is the camera motion, it was kind of jerky--but not in a hand-camera-motion way. The only other problem is that Global Illumination is not all that apparent, and the blue and red light from the sides seems kind of strange.
