is LFL adopting a different position on that sort of thing after the Disney acquisition?

But think of all those mature Star Wars fans. What tragedy has befallen them. Forced to watch all those immature Lucas edits now.

Just some of those fan edits on YouTube that permeate the site. They had ROTS Anti cheese and Mature edits. Just took away the scenes that were considered "bad."

It's funny because these edit actually sound pretty bad themselves.

Yep. They are really stupid. I wouldn't even bother, especially if you like the PT.

What does a "mature edit" of ROTS even mean?

For those of you who don't like the edits - no one is forcing you to watch them. Why would you care if they are available for others?

Copyright infringement. Taking the creative work of others and mangling it to promote yourself, all the while insulting the original artists by implying that their work was "immature."

These edits were all pretty poorly done, though it was nice to see the relaxed stance Lucasfilm held on fanedits and projects of the nature. Then again, YouTube never really was a good place to post nearly entire movies. I guess Lucasfilm under Disney wanted to A) make sure that people actually buy the films and B) make sure that people's impression of the film isn't one of a subpar fan edit.

So an edit of Star Wars without "cheese" is like, what -- 5 minutes total running time, then?
It sounds like something @Evening Star would try and get me to watch, hahahaha. (I'm sorry everyone. It demanded to be said.)

As far as I'm aware, back in 2000, they showed GL "The Phantom Edit" (on a VHS tape!) and he was pretty harsh on cracking down on fan edits like that

Setting aside copyright issues I assume this means you are highly against any and all mods for video games?

    -------------

apart from what Heels said about them being illegal

(which I don't know whether this good point holds much weight since this site allows a whole thread of illegal content to be posted (DVD commentaries etc) in it's own stickied thread)

they are completely boring...they cut the lightsaber fights to ribbons....lightsaber fights of all things!

I am against theft of intellectual property. If a development studio is not supportive of user-generated mods, then I would not assume that modifying their original work would be okay.

As far as I know, Lucasfilm was not okay with what essentially amounted to their full films being posted to YouTube.
