A penpal's daughter likes this sci-fi-ku I wrote last year:

    Racing skyhoppers,
    Down Beggar's Canyon and back...
    Teens on Tatooine.

    ------

    And another, there is:

    Green skin - pointy ears,
    With much wisdom in between:
    Cool Spock... Calm Yoda.

Very cool idea. Yoda has always been one my favorites from SW so I really like the second haiku.

Those Haiku's were great! Have you written any more?

    Mr. Spock is turning blue,
And so is Master Yoda too:
Klingons or Troopers on a weekend pass?
    No - Britney Spears,
Full of Pepsi, full of gas!

    (apologies to any BS fans)

Here (finally) is my SW filk song:
    ------------------------------------------

"I hear that Death Star coming"

(to the tune of Johnny Cash's 'I hear that train coming')

I hear that Death Star coming,
    Coming round this systems's end.
I 'aint seen twin moons shine,
    Since I don't know when:
I been carbonite-frozen in this dungeon,
And the light-years keep a-dragon on.
But before that Death Star gets here,
I want to sing this tune.

When I was just a baby,
    My momma told me, "Han,
    Always be a good son - don't
    Play with a blaster gun."
But I fried Greedo in the cantina
    Just to watch him fry.
And when that Death Star gets here,
I'll hang my head and cry.

    -----(Instrumental guitar break)-----

Luke and Leia broke me out of Jabba's prison,
    Along with my wookie friend:
    A walking carpet named Chewbacca,
    Who's loyal till "Jedi's" end.
Yes, he'll tear an arm out of socket,
If he loses in a game.
One of the best bud's that I've got:
Almost as good as a dame....

I write tons of filks. here are two of them:

One more Time (off Shitney Spears' "Baby One More Time")
    <<Obi-Wan>>
Oh, young Skywalker, how was I supposed to know
that you were doomed to darkness
    <<Padme>>
Oh, Ani, why did you have to go
'Cause you're on the Dark Side, yeah

    <<Obi-Wan>>
    What did you
    Need for me to do
Tell me, Ani, 'cause I need to know now
    What because

My guiltiness is killin' me (and I)
    <<Darth Vader>>
I must confess, I cannot breathe (cannot breathe)
If I lost my mask, I'd lose my life
    Oh, my dear wife
Let me hold you one more time

    <<Obi-Wan>>
    Oh Anakin, midi-chlorians infest you
    You are the Chosen One
    <<Padme>>
Oh, love, there's so much that we could do
    If you just turn back

    Tell me
    What you see in Palpatine
    Tell me, Ani
'Cause I need to know now
    What because

My loneliness is killin' me (and I)
I must confess, I'm expecting (two babies)
Turn back for the little lady and the lad
    'Cause they need a dad
Stand by me for all time

    <<Obi-Wan>>
Oh, young Skywalker, how was I supposed to know
Oh, Ani, why did you have to go

    I must confess
    That my guiltiness
    Is haunting me now
    <<Darth Vader>>
Don't you know I cannot breathe
    Without a mask
    I'd lose my life
I tell you for the last time

My Darkness, it feeds me (and I)
I must confess, it helps me breathe (helps me breate)
    Without my Darkness, I'd die
    And that ain't no lie
I'm leaving both of you for all time

I Know the Meaning (off the Backstreet Boys' "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely)
    <<Darth Vader>>

I know the meaning of being evil

So many cares to a Jedi's heart
    I'm beyond all that foolishness
    with my mask I breathe
    Join me and maybe

Lives of light so soon become
    a monotone, oh my son
thy every wish, will be done
    I tell thee

I know the meaning of being evil
This is the path that I have chosen
Tell me why you won't turn to the Dark Side
There is nothing in my heart

    <<Luke>>
Life goes on, it just won't end
I'm of stone, I got no friends
Yoda says, "Hate leads... to suffering."

Lengthy sessions of endless training (training)
But I've got control, the Force is mine now
But Yoda says, my training isn't done yet
    Don't tell me

    <<Darth Vader>>
I know the meaning of being evil
This is the path that I have chosen
Tell me why you won't turn to the Dark Side
There is nothing in my heart

    There's no where to run
    You've got nowhere to go
turn to the Dark Side, use the real Force
    <<Luke>>
How can it be you're tellin' me to do
    A thing I cannot do...

    <<Yoda>>
    Overburdened is Vader's heart
Tell me why, Ani, on the Dark Side you are

    <<Vader>>
I know the meaning of being evil
This is the path that I have chosen
Tell me why you won't turn to the Dark Side
There is nothing in my heart

I know the meaning of being evil
This is the path that I have chosen
Tell me why you won't turn to the Dark Side
There is nothing in my heart

Great filk songs, Bant428! (sorry for earlier mix-up)
(I really liked the 'One More Time' one)
Would love to hear these performed!

    --------------

    Here is another SW Haiku:

    Star Wars 'Just a movie'?
Is the bible just a book
    - or god just an idea?

Bant, I earlier saw your OCFF icon and thought you were SRB... My mind must have 'spaced'!

Have you heard that song called
'Skater Boy'? (some girl sings it)
Would be good for a filk about Anakin and Padme.

Do you play the songs you write?

Ariana, thanks for the singer's name.

I am totally in a Star Wars mode lately :D -- a lot of songs on the radio make me think of characters from various episodes....

I was reading a book of poems by the 13th Century poet Rumi yesterday, and came across this one (think of Luke on Tatooine):

What is this day with two suns in the sky?
    Day unlike other days,
With a great voice giving it to the planet,
"Here it is, enamored beings, your day!"

    -- Rumi
    (from the collection 'Unseen Rain')

A new poem (am very bored at work):

    "3 and 3/4"

    In a dream - I was a Jedi Knight,
    Trusty lightsaber at my side,
A brave expression on my face...

It was so pleasant to be loved
    And treasured!

    Inside a clean and dry plastic bag;
    Stored in a dry, cardboard box (as it rained all day/night long);
There in a safe dresser drawer...

When you're only 3 and 3/4 inches tall,
    You crave being loved; treasured...
    And safe!

    Thanks Amy and Sean. :D

Got the idea for '3 & 3/4' while I was going through my loose figures recently.

    --------------------------------------

    'On to Barsoom'

It really is such a small,
    Small world after all:
    For the young and old,
    Or the short and tall.

    So we better get started,
    And get started soon...
    Get back to old Luna,
    Then on to Barsoom!

    ------------------------------------------
(Barsoom - other name for Mars, which Carl Sagan referred to in his books)

    Peace,
    Jim
