If it's in Alaska in winter I will NOT be there. I vote for a Texas convention, or maybe somewhere by the beach.

It's a safe bet if there is a c4 it will be in Indy.

I think we should invade Cuba, liberate the people, then turn the whole island into a Star Wars Celebration 24/7.

 

I checked out the dates and it seems like May 24th -27th 2007 seems possible, the 25th being the 30th annivversary of Star Wars.

 

I was talking with someone from Official Pix on Sunday and he said he was told one of the stipulation for the Celebrations (and any future Celebrations) is that they have to be centrally located. In other words, no coasts. He said that was according to Rick McCallum. Take it for what it's worth. Dunno if that's 100% true or not, but sounds plausible.

I think it updates monthly, so in a couple months we'll see what's planned for April and May of 2007 (so far).

 

I don't think it matters if it's on a beach or not. I mean, who's going to have time to go to the beach when there's a SW convention going on??

 

You know, Kansas City is about halfway between Denver and Indianapolis. And our airport is a lot bigger than Indy's, with more direct flights. Our convention center is comparable, 'cept we don't have the football dome right next door to have to walk around to get in line. All the worthwhile nightlife would require a carpool or taxi, but we could remedy that with a party at our place...

 

KC, Omaha (my preference) or Ames, IA would be great, though if any of those cities got C4 it'd more than likely be KC.

 

My bet is that it'll be held in San Diego.

 

it wont be in san diego. they want them more centralized. im betting indy again.

 

My bet goes to Indy, Denver or somewhere in between the 2. Just conjecture on my part, but what I've heard from several different sources is that the powers that be want it centralized.

 

I think they would consider Chicago, but the convention centers are so laden with union red tape, it really becomes a joke. You can't even plug something into an electrical outlet without union people doing it for you.

I liked Indy myself, not too far away from Chicago.

 

I doubt it will be Indy if it's in 2007. If the new Colts stadium deal goes through, the convention center will be in the middle of massive construction for 2006-2007, likely not ready to host a convention of Celebration's size until 2008.

But if it's 2008, Indy would be great again because for the new Colts stadium, they're basically building a new stadium, and then where the old one is, they'll be expanding the convention center, so it will actually be MUCH larger.

 

The question is, of course, if Indy will be willing to cough up the money to build a new stadium and convention center. Which, of course, is a separate issue. I'd be willing to chip in a few dollars if it means we can host another SW party...

Yeah, the new stadium plan is currently mired in red tape at the moment, as the state tries to figure out a way to pay for it.

 

I'm actually quite surprised St. Louis hasn't been mentioned.
