    Background:
Teresk Rey'lon is the son of a Senatorial lobbyist and spent most of his childhood around polititians. When he reached 15 years, he worked with his father, and made a few contacts with Senators and other government officials. He was 20 when he got a job doing clerical work for the Department of Prisons. At 27, he was transferred to the Republic Security Force and was stationed in the organized crime bureau. Two year of office work in the bureau, and he had quite a knowledge of how organized crime worked and how the Republic dealt with it. This was recognized by his superiors and he was given a great opportunity.

He was tested, trained, and placed in the undercover division of the organized crime bureau as an informant. His duties were to make a name for himself in underworld circles, taking as much time as he needed to create a cover, and ultimately help bring down some of the crime syndicates on Coruscant.

For four years, he has built up the cover of Catch Illis, the guy who can get almost anything for a price. He can do this, of course, with the help of the Republic. While he hasn't broken into a major organization yet, he has made a lot of contacts in the criminal underworld, and hopes that his work will pay off very soon.

Knowledge (Underword Organizations) is usually covered by the "catch-all" Knowledge (Streetwise), which is more useful in the long-run.

No word from Darth_Digital or Quiwan. So there is one space open in both groups.

Protoss, you are more than welcome to get a group together.

DARTH-MARK, Dizfactor, if you are still around you can jump in to one of the groups, although it looks like you will have to fight over the ORP game.

    thank you!

i'm still not sure how this is working. you post here, and we post in response? how often are we going to be expected to post?

also, beyond the era, i don't know what is going on with regard to setting and type of game for each of the two groups, and that will affect what kind of character i create. is it going to be more action-oriented, more political, more smuggling and other such things?

This is all well and good, trust, sharing, equality, role-playing bonhomie....

BUT WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THOSE ATTRIBUTES?

Not one person rolled anything below a 10, most of you have everything above 12, a couple of you have two 18s...

    WTF?

Ender: Ya, I guess so, but they will have to get there soon.

JediBendu: Calm down! Whats the point of being a hero if you can't act heroic. Sure, low-stat chars have their place, but I dont think that this is a place for them. If you want a low stat char, go play a 5 INT half ogre in D&D (very ammusing by the way, expecialy if played correctly)
Elf: "You know that you are depriving a village somewhere of their idiot."
    Half-Ogre: "What?"

    CharlieHickok-: Sorry I missed that.

You don't have to be low stat all the way, but these characters aren't even slightly average in any way! The chances of getting die roles this good are ridiculously low.

Playing heroic characters doesn't mean playing super characters. By the very nature of having heroic levels characters are more powerful than those with NPC classes.

Now I can understand wanting to play a kick-ass character, but they should still have human levels of falibility and also... two 18s on a character. The chances of that are absolutely mininscule and compromise the whole point of having the lower range of stats.

A 9 is perfectly respectable. A 12 is impressive (you probably know few people with stats above 12 in your life), anything above a 12 is very, very good. You guys are playing top scientists with the build of an athlete and the charm of James Bond, the wisdom of a Jedi and the constitution of a rhino. Too much, this sort of thing removes the specialisation of a single or duel high stat that characterises a good team player, these characters are designed for hogging the limelight, because they are good at everything.

You forgot to mention dexterity. j/k

The high stat bit dosn't bother me. I told them to roll 4d6, drop the lowest. Do that seven times and drop the lowest total. Now you seem to have concerns about their falibility. I admit, with stats like that they would be very good at most things. Unlike most GM I have played under, I don't try to play off the players stat defects. I play off their personality and character. If someone is afraid of snakes, I will make a Slussi their co-pilot. I don't care how good your stats are, if you play your character correctly (s)he will have a very bad day sitting next to an eight foot long snake with arms.

But look at the character in "Star wars Episode XV: The RPG Forum returns". It would be a movie full of male models doing brillaint things. They would be impossible to connect to just by their very brilliance at everything.

The best hero characters are the ones that are just a bit beyond us, that are within our grasp. Luke is not that much smarter, braver or tougher than we are. He starts out wityh one defining characteristic - he's a good pilot, and the the force comes in later. He's pretty average otherwise.

A lot of the distinctiveness in one of these characters is their strengths and their weaknesses. You don't expect wisdom from Solo (or even Luke). You don't expert superior hand to hand fighting from Leia or Palpatine.

These characters are just too good. That loses my interest in the movie you are making. And before you say you're not making a movie, it's SW:RPG, it's a movie.
