Anyone got a cell phone company and plan recommendation?

My wife and I have used US Cellular for several years and I've been wanting to dump them for a while and now I think I'm going to finally do it thanks to number portability. US Cellular seems to have pretty crappy coverage in this area and whenever I make a call from the Raleigh area, it costs me and arm and a leg and it always sounds like poo.

Anyone have a cell phone company they're pretty happy with as far as service and price go? I need a "share talk" type of plan where my wife and I can share minutes with two phones, probably about 600-700 minutes a month would suit us. I'd also like to not pay roaming charges which will likely mean a regional or national plan of some sort. I'm not really concerned with pictures phones and internet or games on my phone. I just want to talk on it (a novel concept I know). I've looked at Cingular and they have a couple of plans that might work. Any opinions to share? It would be much appreciated.
