    Thanks Carrie....
they kinda look like some kind of religion...
if you look at the one set of photos posted...
    and...
    well..
I guess they aren't too active...
their boards still advertise that July's activity is "to be announced"...

I've seen their listing at MeetUp.com, but that's all I've seen of them. People are free to do what they want, but turning a fictional order into a religion/philosophy seems a bit much. There are probably religions and/or martial arts that would serve you better in that capacity.

Sounds creepy to me. This reminded me of that "church of Jedi" in England. Dudes, it's just some movies. And I say that knowing full well that I am not just a fan, but obsessed with everything about SW.

"turning a fictional order into a religion/philosophy seems a bit much"

That statement is true. However, should a fictional account be looked through the lens of Joseph's Campbell understanding of myth, then it's simply a modern retelling of an age-old story. It's a story of the hero's journey that resonates within a particular group of people.

These groups of people are striving to live out the ideals found in many orders of knights (real and fictional) and work to make the world slightly better. In so doing, they have also been able to build a sense of community - everything from helping each other move to caring for one another when one has undergone hospitalization.

Thank you for pointing out areas of the website that need attention. It has unfortunately been a work in progress for too long.

    uh, er,

so they are NOT Star Wars fans?

    but are inspired community activists?

Just ran into our Former Fearless Leader Dave, who is in town for a little while trying to clean out his former digs on 35th and Damen, which is for sale. He mentioned he's trying to give away some of the set stuff he has in storage from our scenery at some of the cons, and said he'd write me at my email address. Hope to forward more info to you as it arrives.
