Irritating continuity snafu #1. Hutts never used to have skeletons, did they...?

Irritating continuity snafu #2. Winter's mother is a dark, tan-skinned Brazilian. That's just lazy fan****. They could have made her some descendant of the blue-eyed white-blond Colton.

The skeleton doesn't have to be a mistake, however. Since this is an out-of-universe document, we can use that cop-out. IIRC, the skeleton drawings for the creatures in the PT were done to help the animators, or something to that effect. The Art of Episode I talks about that a little bit, I think.

#1 only because you havn´t seen hutt bones before doesnt mean they have none^^ so no error yet

#2 I think the choice they made is cool, and star wars has different physics, why not different genetics as well? doesn´t matter as long her mother is hot, and has similarities with winter, which she has in skills and character! winter could still have inheridet some albino genes from her artist father which is unknown to date! so no continuity error here either

I don't trust these conversions. Whomever does it is just pathetic.

They must not know about this site:

    http://www.worldwidemetric.com/metcal.htm

I bet the TF ship turns out to be either 17 miles across, or else 456.36 feet.

Funny definition of a "dark, tan-skinned Brazilian".

    [image=http://www.hennessy.id.au/quentingeorge/archives/souza.JPG]

Are you an albino perchance? Because for a Brazilian, she's actually fairly fair.

Considering we don't know Winter's father (or indeed, Sheltay's own parents), its perfectly plausible that she can have a white-haired, blue eyed daughter.

(Not to mention that Colton could very well *be* Winter's grandfather)

In fact, I have a cousin who is white-blonde with blue eyes, despite having a dark-haired, dark eyed mother.

Sometimes genes just match up in interesting ways.

Some are antique Sith-sculputres. Seems that the Jedi did not know that or simply ignored it.

Why would they care? It is just a civilian showing an interest in ancient art. Would you be suspcious of someone who had a piece of ancient Persian artwork in their office?

Well they already started to suspect someone close to the chancellor in LoE. So the statues would them another hint.

But you are right. They probably considered it as interest in art. I know many people who collect all possible kinds of WW II items, and I know they are not Nazis.

But after ROTS Yoda and Obi-Wan will probably think how obvious everything was.

The skeleton doesn't have to be a mistake, however. Since this is an out-of-universe document, we can use that cop-out. IIRC, the skeleton drawings for the creatures in the PT were done to help the animators, or something to that effect. The Art of Episode I talks about that a little bit, I think.

Here's the caption in the book:

"Hutts propel themselves by pushing their immense mass forward along their muscled tail. Some published material has described the Hutt physiology in detail, including their lack of an internal skeleton (which makes them very much like annelids). Despite this, the Art Department developed a Hutt skeleton in sketches in order to facilitate realistic animation of the computer-generated creature."

Some are antique Sith-sculputres. Seems that the Jedi did not know that or simply ignored it.

Here's what the book actually says:

"The pieces are either originals or tributes to designs from over 1,000 years ago, when the Sith ruled the galaxy. Though not all pieces carry overt Sith designs, most serve to describe some aspect of that ancient time."

    And...

"... the carving depicts overwhelmed Jedi warriors falling before Sith-inculcated creatures. Seen sough sympathetic eyes, it can be interpreted as a tribute to Jedi bravery, but it can also be seen as an example of powerful Sith magic."

I'm seriously considering buying this book, though I think it's price is too much. There's a few things I'd like to know first from those who have a copy. It seems that the vehicles are covered pretty well, or anyway someone listed them out, but how well are the environments covered? One of the pictures that was posted showed, I think it was, Padme's apartment. What kinds of details, in terms of pictures and information, are there about the settings and items/props that make up those settings, even those in the background of the movie frame. And are there any pictures or information about any of the costumes that are not covered in any other books, such as the Making of books, the Art of books, and the DK Visual Dictionaries? Do these other books cover the same things so that I might as well forget this one?

this book, though huge, cannot cover everything sadly. no book can.

costumes are mainly in trishs costume book
environments in the 360° worlds of star wars book
items can be found mainly in visual guides
vehicles are seen very much here, but also lots of rooms, environments and people and costumes in the chronicles book. though not every background detail is covered, you will find lots of them in there. if you just want environments I advise you to get art of book, and 360° worlds of star wars. or for other special interests the others. the chronicles is a good mix with lots new pictures featuring lots of costumes, ships and locations. though not everything is in there.

all these books together are the best overview. but chronicles is a very good overview over all aspects

CeiranHarmony, thanks so much posting those pictures! They're wonderful.

Hope you don't mind another question. I'm debating buying the book now rather than after the holidays. One of your pics had some great shots of Motee, Padme's RotS handmaiden. I know the book can't cover everything, but I was wondering if they had any new pictures of handmaidens from the first two films. I konw this is a really narrow question, but $90+ is a lot of money just before Christmas.

    Thanks so much!

they have shots of the handmaidens and even the servants in the Naboo lake retreat. but not much about them. some shots might be new, but nothing surprising new about them I can remember. I will dig through it later to check it.

ps: there is lots more EU info in the book than I posted here. see for yourselfs or go to wookieepedia, I am giving all the info to senatorcilghal for updating wookieepedia with it.

So in-universe there's still no skeletons, thus no error. Whew! :-B :)
