Anyone think it might be good to have some less operatic things in Star wars?

Something like "Darth Rivan" was the Dark Lord no one took seriously and they just changed his initial because they wanted to establish he was a pale immitation of the sith lord he took the name of?

    Some more moron Imperials?

People REALLY BAD at their jobs?

Uhm, are you asking this because you are at the end of your FAQs, and...the fat lady sings?

Maybe a Gungan adventure kinda thing?

Raynar Thul was always kind of a loser back in the YJK and in SbS. Maybe he could have his own series of failings set in the era of the NJO.

Tie Pilots are the best example of cannon fodder in the entire series, considering they last all of ten seconds in combat. Maybe there could be a Tie series with a constant rotating cast list...since they all die.

Juun and Tarfaang kinda suck up everything they do too.

I think we have a myriad of choices if we explore the "goofy sidekick" angle of things

The Agony of Tarkin. :p You can't get any less operatic...

To be serious, you have to define just at what dramatic pitch the story hits the operatic level. To me, a good number of Bantam stories are not all that operatic.

Daala - the imperial Admiral who can't do anything right?

Edit. Sorry, didn't see the more in your post.

Well, C19, the solution is very simple: terminate the del rey contract, and revive Bantam.

In case you are mulling over that picture, Excellence did mention a while ago that there should be more fat people in SW.

And if you think otherwise, maybe it's time to turn this into a SW opera/performing arts FAQ. For example, could someone tell me more about the Kallea Cycle? Is it the Imperial equivalent of the Nibelung?

So, you're saying they should call KJA back?

Except that KJA's fondness for superweapons might not make the cut for C19's criterion of less-than-operatic...

Since pretty much all KJA's superweapons were either failures or crewed by incompentents, I think it'd fit the bill. The only one posing any sort of threat was the Sun Crusher.

Dude, the heart and soul of Star Wars is the Jedi. It is one huge story about people really bad at their jobs.

I don't think so. I don't know enough about opera to know what to compare it to, but it's a three-part opera about the life of Freia Kallea, who forged the Hydian Way and later married the House Brentioch steward who financed her explorations.

We also have star wars tales and tag and blink that may be along the lines of what you are talking about.

That's true. The Old Jedi Order was abysmal.

Actually, it's defined as exaggerated or melodramatic behavior, often thought to be characteristic of operatic acting.

Maybe I should have tacked an emoticon to that sentence...

I repeat, it means "anticlimatic." :p

That's why I loved the Wraith Squad books; they were the Indiana Joneses of the GFFA, making it up as they went along. Most of the people who died in those books died in utterly idiotic ways (Grinder, Castin Donn, Falynn Sandskimmer, etc.).

And Melvar and Zsinj were the definitive idiot Imperials. Just pompous windbags.

    So, here's a partial solution:

    1) Renew the bantam contract

    2) Give more book deals to Allston.

I'd cut that down to just giving the contract to Allston - Betrayal was be-rilliant!

With Lumiya hovering in the background, maybe we could settle for the soap-operatic.
