Yes, AOTC got one nomination for best visual effects...no sound or sound editing...still Skywalker Sound was nominated for it's work in TTT and Minority Report. (2 out of 3 nominations)

Go to oscar.com and press nominees list

Well, I'm damn sure that TTT had got the VFX award in the bag.

    If SM gets it...

I'm glad to see AOTC nominated for something :D

But I'm curious as to why Spider-Man was nominated. I think Minority Report has better effects than it.

And for sound effects, again, Spider-Man was nominated.

I never found out why the sound effects in SM were so much better than those in AOTC or Minority Report.

And as with TPM, I was dissapointed to see AOTC get snubbed for costume design :(

Oh well, at least it was nominated for something :D

TTT got snubbed in some categories that it won last year (Make-up, Music, Camera) and as far as Make-up and camera are concerned I think rightly so. Since LOTR was filmed as one film you cannot give the same work three different Oscars. The extras wear the same make-up as in FOTR so why award them again?

    I'm glad for Almodovar

Both, AOTC & LOTR:TTT , deserve the Oscar for the Visual Effects category.

If Spiderman should get the award I´ll become very grumpy

It´s a pity that AOTC hasn´t been nominated in the sound categories [face_plain]

I'd say Attack of the Clones got the most important nomination possible. ILM deserves the nom, that's for sure.

It won't win anything and will only be nominated for special effects (which will go to TTT). Williams will be nominated but not for AOTC. He will be nominated for Minority Report or even Harry Potter even though his greatest score was for AOTC. Possible it will receive a nomination for costumes but that's it.

And as far as the razzies are concerned we Star Wars fans shouldn't discuss such awards as they are given by very, very, very sad people indeed (even though I realize that I am discussing them with that sentence).

I'm not surprised that AOTC only received a nomination for best visual effects.

However, I am surprised that Spider-Man didn't get nominated for best picture. It was the highest grossing film of the year, and critics seemed to love it.

Anyways, I can't really comment on any of the nominations, since I think the only two movies I saw that were nominated for anything were AOTC and Spider-Man.

I do take some solace in the fact that LOTR is getting the same fate of SW. SW failed to get best picture of 1977, and each subsequent SW film got even less recognition. Now, it is happening to LOTR. I think NEVER has a movie won Best Picture whose director wasn't even nominated for Best Director. History will repeat itself again (as TTT will fail to grab the prize). Also, Chicago was pretty darn good, too.

The sad thing though, is that AOTC did have better visual effects than TTT as a whole, BUT....the critics are going to remember that Gollum was in TTT and Jar Jar is from SW (even though they should be thinking Yoda, Jar Jar is the stigma). And they will essentially be voting against Jar Jar, even Yoda was a more brilliant creation (than even Gollum, because didn't even wear clothes, Yoda did and it looked REAL). The critics should remember that VFX are not acting awards, but they won't.

Nope. I haven't seen TTT either.

Sadly, I can say that I did see Time Machine, and I still think it was a waste of good money.

No nomination FOR BEST DIRECTOR FOR Peter Jackson!!!

I'm glad we can be happy about that now :D.

I'm happy for AOTC's nomination and for TTT's. Although I am sad TTT didn't get the music nomination, it had some of the most hauntingly beautiful music on record this year. And, I'm also sorry it didn't get the cinematograhy nom too Tufako, it far exceeded FOTR. Still 6 noms ain't bad.

Congrats to all the Oscar Nominees!

Vonn, while you're right that it's very unlikely for a film to win the Oscars without a Best Director nomination it nevetheless happened three times before. The first two times were during the early days of the Oscar aand the third time was for Driving Miss Daisy.

However TTT won't win BP. But it's only the third sequel in history to receive a BP nomination (the other two are are Godfather II and Godfather III) and that's remarkable.

It's a tight race this year at the Oscars and near impossible to predict the outcome. There's no clear favourite this time

YodaJeff, "Spider-Man" for Best Picture? While it won over the critics, I'd say it didn't have a chance, especially with all the great films that came out last year.

I'd be quite dismayed, actually, if "Spider-Man" got a nom over any of the other films that did. And there's so many more which didn't get nominated that deserved it.

    HA!

The Two Towers can only manage a mere six Oscars nominations next to Attack of the Clones seven Razzies! In your face Peter Jackson!!!

Star Wars is back my friends. Star Wars is back!

Do these boards have an "ignore" feature like chat rooms? You know...so you don't even have to see certain posts?

I hope they will reconsider installing "ignore" feature...

Can I ask why you are against it, YodaJeff?
