A shame (and a surprise really)
    \

The Original Trilogy all hae very nice two CD SE sountracks and I love them

You would think by now we would have the same for the Prequal Trilogy

They did an awesome job with the FOTR special edition sountrack, big $$ but so worth it.

*waits for Strilo to tell everyone to stop whining until we wait 20 years for fancy prequel CDs, since that's how long it took for the OT stuff to come out*

Do they have any official plans for when they will release AOTC and ROTS COMPLETE SOUNDTRACKS?

Are they going to release them at all!!

Why do Episode I IV V and IV and not II and III!!!

I heard that it was because Lucasfilm wants guaranteed sales of 500,000 copies or more. Apparently they don't think complete scores of AOTC or ROTS will sell that much.

If we all pooled our finances, we could probably buy that many. :p

Perhaps they could simply mix them and release them exclusively on iTunes. That way they wouldn't have to worry about the overhead of cd produciton and distribution.

I wrote to Lucasfilm and Apple a while ago and suggested that, GK, but got no response from either.

Honestly, I like the format of II and III. I hope they would release similar ones for 4,5 and 6 some day. I don't particularly like the whole soundtrack (unless we're trying to place every scene with the music for fun.) I like the individual tracks.

All of the soundtracks use individual tracks, so to speak, except for the TPM: Ultimate Edition, in which the tracks just flow into each other.

I guess I meant tracks as individual, identifiable songs rather than constant backround music like in ANH, EST and ROTJ cds.

In any event, we've had those for the OT for what, 20 years now? They're not hard to find.

Lucasfilm should post the songs on iTunes. That would be the cheapest way to distribute to a limited audience.

Just a gripe about how freaking expensive the FOTR complete soundtrack is. I really dislike LOTR marketing as a general rule anyhow, but 60+ bucks for a single film of music? *obscene reply deleted*

And it's not even music that especially stuck in my head..

It comes with a complete DVD of the score, and a well done booklet.:)

I can't wait for TTT though.

I paid $45 for the FOTR Complete Score online (at Barnes & Noble with a membership). I would gladly pay that amount for similar deluxe packages of the individual PT scores.

I don't think that a complete score release for Episodes II and III is impossible, but I think that if it ever happens it won't be in individual soundtracks (Lucas would not release Episode II material 4+ years after the film has been released would he?) it will be in a prequel trilogy boxed set (Probably inculding TPM ultimate edition) I wonder if the tracks would be split by scenes (like TPM:UE) or by musical cues? (like the OT SE's)I definitely prefer the Original Trilogy format, because listening to TPM in sequence sounds terrible as my MP3 player leaves gaps in between the tracks which is detracting from the music.

well, that's nice, but a booklet=something that'd get tossed by me. as for a music DVD..I'm guessing you're talking about something similar to the bonus DVD for the ROTS OT?

no, it's the score as on the 3 CDs, only on DVD. I think the words "quality" and "5.1" get thrown around somewhere about it ;) It was the first thing I listened to, but mainly because I didn't want to bother with changing the CDs :p
